Was interested in upgrading from a 980 ti to a 2080 ti but 1k - 1.2k for a single gpu is just simply too rich for my blood. Will stick with 980 ti for now or look at some 1080 ti's but I dunno, really wanted a 2080 ti and was willing to pay up to $700 for one but not 1k+.

Are they charging more to make up for lost sales since the mining bubble finally broke?

Didn’t read too much into the presser but it seems ray tracing is one of the big features. Too bad it’ll probably be a good while before games start implementing it.

Isn't Shadow of the Tomb Raider doing exactly that?

I think Metro Exodus is using some ray tracing tech, as well.

My guess is simply because they can. And since there's no competition from AMD at the moment, green team can charge pretty much any price they desire currently.

Agree with what others said on the price and will stay with my titan X's for a while. Wanted to go one card for 4k gaming but looks like I will have to wait.

I have a feeling that the whole "ray tracing" thing is going to end up being a gimmick.

I"m sticking with my 1070 and focus on upgrading my CPU (from a i5-6600K to a i7-7700K), case and PSU. With the cost of any of those cards, I can do all the upgrades I'm planning for the starting cost of a RTX2070.

I would have to buy a whole new motherboard (which presents another problem with the data on my hard drives from being deleted).

I've been wanting to do a new build for a year but was waiting for the new Nvidia cards to be announced. At these prices though it looks like I will forge ahead without a new video card. My 970 runs most games at 2K and with settings maxed. The only game I've had to dial it back for was Rise of the Tomb Raider.

It's just disappointing they are pricing these so high. Hopefully the prices will drop around the holidays.

Just go for a 1070, 1080/Ti. Prices for those three cards I mention will drop in price a decent amount.

I’ll be sticking with my dual 1080ti’s. I don’t play enough pc games anymore to make it worth the cost of an upgrade. Actually been playing ps4 and switch more often than my pc. The PS4 just has so many great jrpgs.

There is literally no point IMO in PC Gaming anymore. It is just way too expensive. I used to be a massive fan - my first graphics card being the Nvidia FX 5200, then PNY Geforce 9800 GTX, then ATI 4890 1GB, then 980TI.

The problem is the games. There are literally no exclusives on PC anymore that demand high end graphics cards. Most games also have terrible reviews due to poor optimisation.

I love the thought of buying a new graphics card, but an Xbox One X and PS4 Pro does me fine for games now.

The high end stuff, yes it is. Overal, PC gaming is very affordable. You just need to know where to look for deals on components to build a rig or buy a preconfigured. Also, it all depends what you're looking to achieve with your setup (ex 1060/60, 1440/30-60/4k/30-60).
