Very nice of you. I am an owner but never thought about starting a thread.

I have:

L/R Front - KEF iQ7 Walnut,
Center - KEF iQ60C Walnut,
L/R Surround - KEF iQ8ds,
L/R Rear - Infinity Primus 250, ,
Subwoofers - #1 Acoustic Audio HD-SUB12 Cherry, #2 Kenwood SW300 10" Amp/Enclosure upgraded with Dayton RSS265HF-4 10" Reference HF Driver.


I just purchased the iQ8ds' at the cheap and am happy with the dipole effect.

The Force "forced" me into it.

I have always liked the look of KEFs, never had a chance to hear them, but they were right there with the Energys on my list of what to buy. I hope this thread will help the KEF name to get out there a little more, I know the Monitor Audio and Energy threads help them become more popular and gain a larger following, so perhaps this will help too. Too often better brands get passed over for the popular polk and klipsch brands.

That's very kind of ya bro' ! No kids here, though there is a grandchild on my partners side. We've been having Sinsgtar sessions at the weekend lately, where they all come over and if you could see the place the morning after .

Friggin' nightmare mate, but at least the littlun' NOW (after some close calls) learns not to go anywhere near the kit. It is the speakers that worry me though when he's about. I'm sure one day he's gonna poke all the tweeters in lol !

He's too damn cute to get angry with though - the little blighter.

This site usually sells at a good discount - currently at $599 for a new black pair. Too bad Vann's no longer carries them because that's where I got mine on sale back in January.

Hey Derrell ! The use of Port 'bungs' depends on the type/model of speaker and where it is situated in relation to the walls. If your speaker is rear-ported, and it's too close to a wall at the rear, then it might be worth keeping the bungs in as the increased bass extension from the open port might lead to a muddy sound.

My Ref's are front ported, so no need for bungs, but my bedroom 3005SE's are rear ported, and wall mounted. Bungs are left in, in this instance, and also what Kef recommends for the 3005SE's.

In an ideal world, if your speakers have lots of room to breathe behind them, then keep the bungs out for increased bass extension, even if using a sub in a MultiCH setup with a typical 80hz Xover. I think in most instances though, keeping the bungs in will produce a less 'muddied' sound.

The great thing about bungs, is that they're so quick to insert/take out that finding what sounds best on a personal level, is a relatively quick and easy affair.
