Mini Hi-Fi Stereo Component System vs. Soundbar - Blu-ray Forum

Hello, everybody! I've come here to ask which of these two types of audio systems do you think is better overall for both music and movie audio playback. Of course, I know neither is capable of coming close to the quality and professionalism of either a proper surround home theater setup or full-sized Hi-Fi Stereo equipment, but if you were to choose between these two smaller and less powerful options, which would you prefer and why? And if you really don't like either of them, then which do you consider the lesser of two evils? No specific price range necessary.

If you use either one of them for your music or movie needs, which model do you have? Or do you have One of each for separate purposes?

Soundbar is what I would choose between the 2. But you might be able to find an inexpensive HTIB refurb for around $200.00. Good Luck

It's going to be hard to recommend these components without experiencing their full functionality and sound quality. They both may be good.

I've gone through many different types of setups for my meager living room. Went from 5.1, to sound bar with sub, to a 3.1, then to a 2.1. I'm now with a hifi system which suits my space and the footprint is small enough that my live in significant other approves. The hifi system I am using now is a Denon D-M41. It has a sub out which I haven't used or really needed. The speakers I swapped out with a pair of Sony Core series bookshelf speakers which add a bit more oomph.

Sound bar. Those garish mini hi-fi systems!

I've already got a dedicated BD + XB1X + PS5 so don't need another CD player. I like to stay compact, easy to pack & move, and fewer remotes.
