I don't see a whole lot of threads asking about JBL speakers, so I got to wondering about quality, etc.

I was at a buddy's house the other night watching Stardust (not half bad, truth be told), and he has a 5.1 JBL setup into his 605. It sounded awesome!

Just wondering what others thought about them. I believe his set of speakers set him back about 850 bucks. 2 towers, center, surrounds and sub.

When I get my 805, I'm actually looking at JBLs - seem to be good, sound speakers from what I've read on the forums - but I might save up for more just to pick up some Klipsch speakers. They're a solid entry-level choice though.

My 4 L830's & 1 LC1 set me back $1600. Thank gog my old PSW-1200 still works.

Love them by the way.

For the most part...you cannot go wrong with JBL and Klipsch speakers. REAL theatres tend to use them.

The JBLs in a theater are a far cry from the inexpensive ones sold at BB.

well my klipsch system BLOWS away my old jbl's from bestbuy, but they better for the large amount of cash i dropped on them. that being said my old jbl's did sound great, alot better then some of my buddies stereo's that they just recently bought. as its been said sound is completely subjective and although i love my klipsch i am sure i would have loved a cheaper system as well. i say find your price point then listen to those jbl's compared to a few others and decide yourself what sounds good to you. i have always thought of jbl as a "solid" brand though.

I have a klipsch setup minus the sub, and saw that the jbl venue series 12 was a good price anyone here have one or heard one? want some input before i buy. probably go tomorrow to listen one in person at bestbuy.

i have the jbl balboa series front and center channels. i love 'em. they're the ones that frys puts on sale every now and then. never had any complaints, except from the neighbors.

JBL products were the basis for the development of the THX loudspeaker standard.

I'm running all JBL's, mostly Northridge Series and a couple of monitors for the temporarily 'stretched' 7.1 sound. I traded in a set of older, unshielded Bose speakers, which I gave away. I'm very content with my sound and get many compliments on them. I'm always looking at upgrading, but not for a while.

I have that SUB 12 by JBL for the price it sounds amazing im going to be buying another one for I'll have 2 in my living room just the one rocks the walls

how are the balboa's?

i live in canada, and they have them here at best buy, a 5.1 would run like this:

JBL Balboa 30 Series Tower Speaker ($560)

JBL Balboa 2-Way Centre Channel Speaker ($200)

JBL Balboa Powered Subwoofer ($400)

JBL 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers ($255)

I love my jbl studio L series, they sound great to me.

I had a pair of JBLs a few years back, they were the horizontally oriented L series bookshelf speakers(L830?). I thought they sounded great! One thing about them was they sounded better the louder you turned them up. JBL is a very solid speaker company. I would love to own another JBL system in the future. They make good, old-fashioned speakers. You know, square, fairly large, solidly-built, great sounding speakers.

+1 Those type of JBL's (the ones used in theaters) are more comparable to the JBL Synthesis line - big $$$$$$ !!!!
