Noob ? - Banana Plugs

I am curious for I have read the instruction manual on here as well as a few other posts, with the monoprice CLOSED-screw type it seems different than any instruction I have seen for closed type and the sytle seems different in terms of how it screws together with the other piece. On the closed type instructions it claims that it shouldn't touch the threads on the banana plug but how would you go about doing them on these kind? http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...t=1#largeimage Please be descriptive because I plan on doing this alittle tonight.

I'll buy fancy banana plug for tower speaker only front loudspeakers.

Banana plugs are a pain to work with because of all the work you have to do with the wiring, etc (I only had a blade to cut the wires, not a wire cutter... ) but the sound is def. worth it!

banana plugs dont give you better sound. its purely for the easy of connection...

I bashing you, I believe a banana plug is advance connection and enhanced connection.

I doubt it better sound! then get an amplifier!!

I bought the closed banana plugs from Monoprice. I just finished connecting 14 gauge wire to them, wow they are great. Thought I was going to have a problem, because I have never done this before, but it was very easy to do, & I had no problems.

Instead of just connecting bare speaker wire to Polk Monitor 50's, can I connect Open Screw Pins to the speaker terminals ? And if so, can you link me to it on Monoprice.

I'm looking to get some for my new setup, and I was gonna go with monprice but I'm leaning towards the nakamichi now.

I just receive my banana plug and start making the wire for my speaker but I have a question.

If there's lets say 10 copper wire inside the speaker wire, does every little copper wire need to touch the metal inside the banana plug ? And if 1 or 2 copper wire doesn't touch the metal of the banana plug, will I loose sound ?

I'm sure they're both great but personally I would've just bought a fistful from Monoprice at the same cost.

You will be fine if you have the majority of the wire in the connector, but you want to be sure any stray strands are cut back to the insulation so they can't short out against anything by chance. When you don't have all the wires in the connection you would have a miniscule increase in resistance at that point in the wiring, taken to the extreme it could actually create a hot spot and would affect things, the sound would not be changed other than some loss of strength. However the heat produced at the connection might affect the wire's insulation over time, dry it out prematurely, etc.

Question: after inserting the wire and tightening the screw on a single-screw banana plug, how much extra exposed wire should be sticking out the other end? I don't want to trim off too much for fear that the integrity of the connection will be effected, but don't want to leave too much bare wire coming out the other end either. Thanks for any help!
