Amazon.it. Ordered it on March 6, shortly after I first read about it here, so it took less than 2 1/2 weeks.

That said, I did pay full price -- about $36 including shipping. But hell, it's a Golden Age 3D title. After all, why in hell did I pay 3X the price to get a 3D TV in the first place??

As is for me, just enjoying the 3D.
Just what I would of had to do if I was in Italy at the theatrical performance.

I'm planning on retooling the Italian SDH into English subs. If the results look good, I'll make them available for free to anyone who might find them helpful.

That said... I'm still waiting for mine! In all fairness, the folks in Europe told me straight up it could be as late as April 8 arriving. But, man, the anticipation is killing me.

Got mine through eBay with seatownrecords. No problems at all, postage was about £3 and came with online tracking.

I've now watched the whole film - there's no "3D" in the title of the film on screen but it couldn't be more of a 3D movie than it is. Overall it's probably got the strongest 3D of all the Golden Age titles I've seen (which is all of them that have been released on 3D Blu-ray). There are plenty of in-your-face shots with various things pointed, thrown or sprayed at the camera (my favourite being a fire extinguisher) but also entire scenes with the actors way out of the screen, as well as walking in and out of it. You also get up close and personal with an elephant! Depth is impressive, with the background kept out of focus in only a few close-up scenes. I got the impression a lot of care was taken with the framing and layering of shots.

I did notice some softness here and there, and early on some fast movement looked a little shimmery but for the most part I couldn't fault the restoration. There was only one brief shot where I wasn't sure what I was looking at, which stood out only because the 3D worked perfectly everywhere else. It's in the scene where Totò dresses up as a Turk and sailors throw balls at him (no such thing as political correctness back in 1953!) but I didn't want to be rewinding or pausing on my first viewing so I let it pass without further analysis.

Thankfully there were enough circus performances and physical comedy sequences where it was obvious enough what was going on to keep me entertained but also an awful lot of rapid-fire dialogue I had no chance of following. Much of this was delivered with the actors out of the screen, so I found myself wishing for a dub more than subtitles, which would ruin the immersion if not carefully positioned. But no doubt about it, it was a treat to watch, with some of the cast very easy on the eye, let's just say!
I agree with the above observations.
Just want to add that the whole 3D movie is remarkably preserved!
High-definition is extraordinarily detailed, and no noticeable artifact scarring. It's like both eye-views were preserved and intended for-posterity.

The 3D has an infinite amount of consistent positive and negative layering/separation. So much so the variable depth gave me a couple fusion-blur reactions around the central layering positions in a couple scenes. One The13thman described above.

One scene where I had trouble fusing only the central depth layer area:

Got mine for amazon.it as well. Watched today and as others have pointed out:

-Flawless 4:3 stereo image, looks as good as new. The format and age doesn't allow for the highest resolution on blu-ray, but as good as it gets.
-Adequate sound: single uncompressed stereo track (italian), perfectly clear and noise free.
-Possibly restored end credits roll, or at least they inserted a seamless final title card about the digital restoration.
-Minimal subtitles: italian language only, obviously some afterthought, they are basic, not perfect nor did they use 3D to place them correctly on top of existing objects, and thus are hard-ish to read. A few words spoken in French by a couple of characters and 1 or 2 in English.
-(Very) small appearance by movie star Anthony Quinn, who would also star around the same time in the Italian film Cavalleria Rusticana
-Blu-ray menu: also not the best in the world, but could be worse. Allows for subtitles on/off selection, 2D or 3D movie selection and scene selection.

The film is the usual vehicle of the time for famous italian comedian Toto showcase of iconic comedic style, mixture of silly dialogs and facial expressions, and as such perfectly fine if you like that sort of thing, perhaps a tad boring if you don't, but totally passable. The film is non-stop action/comedy mixed with a bit of circus acts and silly plot. Lots of eye candy in the form of supporting actresses, so there is that.

Totally a must for the 3D enthusiasts. Plenty of out of screen gimmick shots and very nice 3D staging overall, flawless stereo photography. As with most 50's "A" title productions.

I do understand italian and obviously the film is better enjoyed if you know the language or have subtitles available. I'm sure fan-made English subtitles will show up for this edition shortly.

Happy another stereoscopic title some 70 years old is now preserved for the future generations and can finally be enjoyed by all.

IMDB should make stereo screengrabs available soon at Il piu comico spettacolo del mondo IMDB

I also agree with 13thman's review. This has some of the strongest 3D I've seen! The depth in the accommodations trailer is phenomenal!! I experienced the variable depth issue as well, Paul. The one you mentioned with the dancers and another around the 11 min mark where the guy in the middle appeared a little in front of the guy to the right and then behind. The left/right eye reversal shot at 13:14 which 13thman mentioned is very unfortunate. It's such a great restoration I wonder how that slipped in. Maybe Bob could share his thoughts on this?
With the exception of that one scene, TOTO looks fantastic! Many thanks to the restoration team.

Mine arrived a couple of days ago and I checked it out the other night. I watched the opening couple of minutes and some random scenes from the rest of the disc. Very impressive. Lovely 3D and crystal clear image quality.

It looks like a lot of the dialogue was post-dubbed as the lip movements don't quite match (not that I can understand the bulk of what is being said).

I learned in film class long ago that it was (is?) general practice in Italian filmmaking to use only post-production sound. In that era in particular, they didn't bother recording any live audio.

Go figure. I got my copy of this already, but my Kickstarter copy of Dynasty has been stuck in transit all week at the USPS Philadelphia Distribution Center!

Oh, no!

There are only 20 copies of DYNASTY that have not yet been delivered and all were mailed last Friday. Sigh...

I got my copy and auto-translated the subtitles. Unfortunately, they still need a lot of work before becoming a decent English-language file.
