I mean if Bleach and Inuyasha can get a blu ray..its only a matter of time..right?...right?...hehe..why is Viz so difficult...swear they are worse than Funimation sometimes.

Inuyasha was like 200 episodes while Naruto is over 700.. There's a decline in sales with every consecutive release so even if they released them with 50 episodes a set, that's still 14 home releases. I can understand why Viz might not want to commit to this.

Oh I totally get that, but Naruto is much more mainstream/popular than those. Maybe they can do limited print collectors sets that they can sell for a premium price and include a couple hundred episodes a set. Maybe OG naruto is one set and then a part 1 and part 2 Shippuuden sets priced around $200-$300. Sort of like what funimation has done for DBZ’s 30th anniversary blu ray.

I'd be very surprised if Viz didn't release at least the original Naruto on Blu-ray. The last wide original Naruto DVD release was in 2009 after the Uncut box sets wrapped up. A new release is long overdue for classic Naruto. Shippuden is another story and not one that my wallet is looking forward to, if it ever happens. I'd buy through the Kage Summit arc and then stop buying.

The original series will be joining Funimation's streaming service... but it's cropped to 16:9

It's the "remaster" produced for Japanese TV re-broadcasts.

Holy crap that first screenshot is awful. This had better not be what we have to look forward to when Viz finally releases a Blu-ray.

That artwork is disgusting. I don't want to buy something with that as the cover.

Did they hire an artist from a forgotten 90s / early 00s indie comic book label or something?

That is honestly one of the ugliest pieces of art I have ever seen on a Steelbook. And there is a lot of bad looking Steelbooks out there. I'm sitting here scratching my head looking at it. I'm 99% sure that I won't be buying this because of that art. I don't want that in my collection.

Wow that's so bad. It does mean they'll be done getting all the movies on blu-ray though.
The back has some details. Art by Whilce Portacio

lol. Well Whilce Portacio is a shitty artist then. At least when it comes to anime. This doesn't deserve to be in any anime collection. Jesus. Would like to have the movies too on blu. Might have to make my own case for the discs and burn the art.

That is one ugly cover that made me at first think it was a bootleg, and we're still missing the extras from the original DVDs I see...

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=283040
The theatrical program booklets (English replicas of the ones sold at Japanese theaters) and the following extras from the individual releases of the original Naruto movies are missing from the Triple Feature DVD.
Quote:
Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow: Making Movies Ninja Style - Behind the Scenes of the U.S. Recording, Japanese Cast Interviews, Message from the Original Author and Cast, Inside the Animation Studio, Naruto at New York Comic Con 2007, Original Japanese Movie Trailers

These extras and the theatrical program booklet were also not included in the regular editions of Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, they were only in the Deluxe Edition SteelBookhttps://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=283040

Legend of the Stone of Gelel: Creating the World of Naruto the Movie 2, Write and Adapt Like a Ninja, Words From Japan, Production Art Gallery, Original Storyboards, Original Japanese Movie Trailers, Naruto the Movie "Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom" Trailer

Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom: The Story of Naruto: Growing a Ninja, Teamwork: The Art of Group Recording, Shooting For the Moon: A Conversation with the Naruto Movie 3 Producers, Clean Ending, Original Japanese Movie Trailers, Production Art Gallery, Naruto the Movie 3 Trivia
