Just watched this.
3D way better than the 4K. But (for me) not a patch on the best 3D movies of the MCU.
3D 8/10

Got my "Agua Hombre" " movie today!

Just kidding. I have the regular American version but I do wonder if they have that movie titled as such in Latin countries. Mu collection:

Is there an edition of AQUAMAN (Blu-ray or digital) that is not in the IMAX format and only in 2.39:1 aspect ratio?

You mean like the 3D version?

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...v#post16201264

Edit: If you meant non-3D versions, then no, I'm not aware of a Blu-ray or digital version that only has the 2.39:1 ratio. I think the 3D disc was really the only version to be neutered by Warner.

Yep, they did it backwards, made the 2D more immersive with IMAX format, and the 3D less immersive by cropping to 2.39:1 scope. ...It was amazing in IMAX 3D!

Some bluray players that support 3D also support disabling 3D mode on output. You could also download or rip the ISO from the 3D bluray and remux just the left eye stream. This would give you what you are looking for!

I thought it would be Hombre de agua or something, turns out it's (I believe, someone correct me) Aquamán.

I wonder if IMax keeps the rights to their 3D fullscreen presentation, preventing the film from going to blu ray 3D unless a special deal is struck between the two?

Or if the studio working on the blu ray 3D transfer didn't want to take the extra step to secure the Imax 3D format and just went with the standard one.

In the case of 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame', both were shot using IMAX cameras (1.90:1), but they did not make to the Blu-ray, not even a single format. Just exclusive to cinemas.

IMAX has the rights to the footage made using their cameras, so they can dump their footage on some streaming service (not sure which) under 'IMAX Enhanced', but these two movies are still not available anywhere in IMAX.

'Aquaman' was not shot on IMAX cameras, but was shot using ARRI Alexa cameras which can shoot at 4K and 1.78:1 aspect ratio. Thus it's up to Warner Bros. and some people to decide what footage goes on which disc.

Sadly, the IMAX shots which provide more immersion were not on Blu-ray 3D. It was probably done to get more sales from the 4K and HD Blu-ray discs.

It's so annoying that best scene in the movie, the horror trench scene, is IMAX in 4K but has black bars in 3D. Ridiculous.

That's not something I know how to do but I guess I can crop it to 2.39 with VLC.

Watched this one last night in 3D and thought that the 3D was just OK at best. The film had a couple of good shots that featured nice depth and an overall cool 3D effect, but for the most part I found it to be pretty tame. I thought there could've been a lot better use of depth and separation that a lot of scenes were lacking. I was just expecting something a little better after reading some of everyone's praises here for it saying how phenomenal it was. I'd probably give the 3D somewhere around a 3 (maybe 3.5) out of 5.
I will say though, the audio was fantastic. Excellent use of all channels and the bass was extremely punchy. Terrific sound design.

I was impressed with the 3D in various scenes - especially underwater. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it as much.

You all probably know as much about 3D viewing, if not more, than I do. But lately, I've been re-evaluating the 3D in some movies, as it seems that screen size and distance play a greater role than I previously thought.
I back up farther from the screen and find greater depth. I doubt it'll change the pop-out frequency but ::shrugs::

Good luck. I'm just happy to have found some folks who enjoy 3D like I do.
