To all:

What’s the best DTS:X/Atmos track on a 3D movie?

What’s on your most wanted list of Atmos/DTS:X tracks?

Remuxing means the same as the best 2D/4K versions.

Kong Skull Island, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, Blade Runner 2049, Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2, The Meg.

Those come to mind offhand.

I've done about 40 now. A few more to go. Having bad problems with Amazing Spider-Man 2 though. Can't get the audio to work. Conan was an oddity with an extra 20 second lionsgate header at the front on 3d.

If anyone’s had those tracks where they’ve had to add a delay for the audio it would be useful to post their suggestions here.

As for 3D movies for which I wish an Atmos track was available: Prometheus!

I use MPC-HC to see how to synch between versions. Can enable miliseconds view (like so), then play each version & pause on the exact frame at start of the actual movie to check the difference. Then, just add that exact positive or negative delay to ATMOS/X audio.

Yeah, I do similar. MPC HC is so useful for this. I also often just mux it and then load the first cut and then use the audio delay. My laptop really can't handle playing 4k so even scanning the

Rather than the millisecond view, you can just pause on the frame and use the go to menu option, and it shows the exact time stamp you are on.

BTW, has anyone had any success muxing Amazing Spider-Man 2? The audio is choppy and gets out of sync like it introduces a 20ms gap every second. Bizarre.

Damn you (kidding) ... wasn't planning to buy either of the Spider-Man UHD's, but got them both today at Best Buy. Remuxed mine w/ATMOS for both (didn't need to add any delays to synch), and not getting audio synch issues w/either. For Spider-Man 2, sampled about a minute every chapter. Should I be watching for longer stretches to see if I get your issue?

Hmm the choppyness seems to affect mine from the start, and by the time you get to the second chapter stop, where Stan Lee is at the graduation, his words come a few second later. It is like every second a few millisecond blank is being inserted.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've done over 40 with no problems. What version of txmuxer are you using? And do you demux the atmos ac3 file out first, or put the video sources side by side? I've tried both, same result, and source wise I've tried full iso and m2ts passthru.

So the running times on versions I have are 2:21:34:736 for the 3D, and 2:21:34:777 for the 4K. When I studied both, it looked like a 1ms difference, so when muxing, I didn't add any delay to audio.

I ripped both with MakeMKV, then used MKVMerge to create the new mux (3D video from the 3D disc, and ATMOS from the UHD disc). I have a movie-only MVC MKV, not an ISO (not that container should make a difference).

OK thanks. I will try that MKVMerge. I'm honestly not at all familiar with MKVs as I've never really had the need to use them. BR format has typically been a good universal solution for me for proper frame packed 3D (eg with a couple of exceptions I can put it on a blu ray and play on anything and don't need another device). Previously I had also used AVCHD for subtitling projects as could mount and play on anything as well. They don't really do 3D on that.

I actually tried the create with makemkv and it crashes on it. It was my first try at it.

Shouldn't crash; that's odd. If you have AnyDVD HD or another rip app, I'd disable them. Also, when doing 3D, need to make sure you select both the MPEG4 & MVC sub-track (like so).

I'm not seeing that option. What front end app is that? What app are you using for mkvmerge? I thought it was command line? I have got mkvtoolnix

MKVToolNix is what includes MKVMerge. The screenshot I linked to is from MakeMKV... what you use first to rip, then MKVMerge to mux the desired video/audio tracks.

Ah right, thanks. I used DVDfab, so have a iso mounted. With toolnix then is there some setting to make it 3D? My first try only seems to include the 1 video stream.

I take it your process is to:
- Create an intermediate MKV from the 3d source
- Create an intermediate MKV from the UHD
- Merge to another MKV?

I think it might have worked. I created a 3d intermediate mkv with makemkv, and then added that in mkvtoolnix, and added the Atmos track. Then when I muktiplexed it, it actually saved it as mk3d extension. It plays ok on the PC, but I'll try it on the zidoo later see if plays 3d.

Oddly, when I tried adding the mkv in tsmuxer it got errors processing the Atmos track. I am looking for logs.

Yep, that's it. Although MKVMerge defaults to mk3d extension, just save it as MKV.

Shame Ghostbusters 2016 UHD doesn't have Atmos on the theatrical.

Ah yeah. I hadn’t noticed that - I took mikkeli at his word when I updated the list. Ghostbusters is removed.
