Default Love Actually in 4k

I saw at FandangoNow that they have this in 4k.
Itís not 4K at iTunes or Vudu yet.

I wonder if iTunes or Vudu will upgrade this to 4k soon. Itís one of my favorites Holiday movies.

I tried to do the Fandangonow upgrade trick where you unlink and re-link your movies anywhere to get the UHD purchase option to show if you already own the movie in HD, but it didn't work for me. Wonder what I did wrong?

Universal owns most of Fandango so they have a whole slew of 4K masters no one else has. So far none of them have been shared with other streaming services.

Yeah. I have Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in my UV and MA Library from them. Can't watch it anywhere else in 4k though.

There's some question about whether those masters are actually 4k...

What is the source of these questions? I have heard forum members speculate but no one that has convincingly compared pictures quality, a sort of random ranting rather than anything technical or based on evaluation. The 'sour grapes' of 'if it's streaming only on FN it must suck.'

I would be curious to hear feedback from people who have actually streamed Love Actually or other Fandango Now exclusive Universal releases.

A good friend of mine who is also on these boards has several. He says they're all upscales.

I assume you mean did they scan a film print to obtain their 4K master, or simply upscale the pre-existing HD scan to "UHD". It could easily be that they upscaled rather than scanned the film print. The movie is old enough that the original is likely a film source, so could maybe benefit from a new 4K scan, or might have gotten an effective HD scan in the first place, and so the "UHD" scan might be good enough that the 4K upscale captured better color detail of that HD scan.

Since it's the norm to take a older movie that has a scan for a DVD and upscale it to "HD" for the many digital versions, no doubt an upscale could have happened for this.

I bought this on FandangoNow, and sampled it a little. Seems decent, but I can see how it might only be an upscale. Can anyone confirm if it has HDR? My HDR indicator didn't come on while I was watching.

I wonder if it's simply "4K" but not HDR? Which might make it sort of stupid if it's merely an upscale. I recently bought Isle of Dogs 4K, and it is NOT HDR, just 4K (only that higher resolution, which for my size screen, 55 inches, and no HDR of any sort, won't be any different than HD)

I think it's a genuine 4k scan as film grain is visible (I sit 2.3m from 65" TV) but it's not HDR.

Eh I can check this again, but I bought this about a year back and thought it looked worse than the Blu-ray.
