Vudu has always felt like an afterthought to me. The interface alone has been absolutely trash for many years. It's pretty much only safe to invest in iTunes and/or Movies Anywhere. Those are the only places that I'll spend my money.

Me too. Walmart has billions of dollars but never really put much money into improving the service. I think they only bought Vudu because all of their competitors had or were going to have their own streaming services (anybody remember Target Ticket?). If they do sell, I think Vudu's days are numbered. I don't think it's strong enough to survive without the backing of a major retailer and it probably would have gone out of business by now if Walmart hadn't bought it.

I would add Amazon. Google Play is questionable as Google is known to drop stuff abruptly.

This is actually good news, it’s the opposite of considering shutting it down.

Vudu is actually worth something to walmart to be considered to be selling it off rather than shutting it down.l

I fear that it will be FandangoNow that will step up.

Not going to worry about it yet as there isn't much I can do about it but I sure won't be buying anymore movies that are not MA on Vudu.

I never panicked when Flixster, Target Ticket or CinemaNow went away but this one makes me a bit nervous now that UV is gone.

Same here. Once UV went away, I became pretty hesitant when it came to buying movies that weren't Movies Anywhere.

Now, I almost definitely won't be buying any movies on Vudu anymore, unless it is a Movies Anywhere title. (Well, maybe I will buy a few, but it will have to be something that is on sale for REALLY cheap to get me to purchase a Non-Movies Anywhere title.)

The biggest issue would be non-MA movies that aren't on the other services. Vudu has a bunch of MGM movies that aren't available on any other service. Then there are movies on Vudu from MA studios that aren't available on MA like True Lies and the uncensored The Santa Clause.

Interface is trash? Compared to what?? Their website is easy to use and on Xbox at least, it is by far the most usable UI there is for movies. It gives you far more movie-specific sorting options that most/any other, has more 4k than any other provider (other than possibly Apple) and has the movie extras that most don't.
iTunes on PC is trash and their new movie app isn't available on most devices yet.
Microsoft Movies was out of date 10 years ago.
Google Play for movies works for basic playback on the web but doesn't have any real features specific to movie collections and is at best 'fine' on android devices.
Fandago? Non starter.
Amazon? Web site for your owned movies is a clustfrak of a joke as they just want to sell you anything and everything. Their app is barely usable for your movie collection with terrible UI and joke of sorting options.

For those that pre order often on Vudu, as long as it's an MA title if the title automatically processes, it will be in Fandangonow. That means if Vudu, bless its soul, goes under, that preorder will still stand.

For us, the UI of Vudu is better then all the others. iTunes, Amazon, Google....with Vudu I can easily sort my collection any way I want. No side scrolling either.

They paid a reported 100M and have also invested in it, it would have to be horrific not to sell it off. Walmart is a public company it can't just dump such such large investments.

Agreed and it isn't just the UI, VUDU has a better model than all the other providers.

Watch free with ads as a bonus. Watch and get credits for purchases and rentals.

All this talk about it being an after thought isn't accurate. While it isnt' the most pushed thing at Wally World, it doesnt' act or feel like a WalMart product (and that is a good thing). They do work to keep people interested and offer constant promotions, not to metnion they carry things others don't.

VUDU is the only streaming platform I don't want to see die off.

Someone should make a new thread about this in the appropriate area. I hope we don't get screwed by Vudu

well the good news is that it's not dying off, there is value in it.

I wish target considered selling target ticket instead of shutting it off

I hope Apple or Amazon buys VUDU. Those are really the only two major options.

I will miss features like M2D, IW, etc. though.

For all the grief VUDU gets about its abysmal customer service and lack of price-matching, these are perks no one else is offering. (Ironically, Amazon used to give you an Amazon digital copy if you bought the disc.)

Weird move though, after Walmart invested in VUDU original series like Mr. Mom (which actually isn't bad). Then again, I do remember reading that Walmart shut down all other planned VUDU originals.
