I recently bought the new Brazilian release of the 1995 BBC miniseries "Pride and Prejudice" to replace my American copy since it did not have Portuguese subtitles, and it was one of my family's favorite movies. Everything on the Brazilian Blu-Ray looked as good as the American version, until we got to Episode 5.
The final two episodes, 5 and 6, both exhibited a constant stutter or jerkiness to the video. It was evident immediately in the opening credits of Episode 5, where a female hand is shown doing embroidery, and continued until the end of the miniseries. It was most evident when the camera panned, or when there was a lot of movement on screen, but it was always there. I went back to check the previous, episodes, and they played as smoothly as ever. I also tried changing all the settings on my projector (Epson 7500UB), but nothing help. Even turning on Frame Interpolation, and setting it to high, did little to improve the problem. I think there must be some problem in the actual video on the Blu-Ray disc. I plan to write to the distributor of the Brazilian version, "Log On Multimídia", and see if they are aware of any issues, but I wanted to check here in case anybody else has (or doesn't have) the same problem. ![]() |

I found the following review of the Brazilian Blu-Ray:
http://veja.abril.com.br/blog/tempor...to-em-blu-ray/ If they had the same problem, they either did not mention it, or did not notice it. I also wonder whether they had a pre-production version of the disc, or if they had the final retail release. FYI, my Blu-Ray player is a Sony BDP-BX59 with the latest firmware. My old JVC XV-BP1 just died, so I don't have another player to test the disc with right now. |
