If you're looking for sleaziness combined with cartoonishness outside of the "Death Wish" series, go for "Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects". It's kind of like a combo of "Death Wish 2" and "Death Wish 3" IMO in terms of its vibe. That movie is just batshit crazy.

The best line from "Kinjite" is when Bronson's daughter brings home some dude from her high school and they go up to her room, Bronson turns to his wife, with a totally straight face and without a hint of sarcasm and says, "She's up there with that stud." What father calls his daughter's boyfriend a stud haha? Only in a Cannon film.

Also, "Kinjite" has one of the sleaziest villains in film history. Also, Bronson plays his role not as his typical laconic badass self, but as more of a bombastic a-hole. It's pretty hilarious.

The third is such a dropoff from the sleazy glory that is DWII, and I like it a tenth as much, but it does make sense as a Death Wish movie. I can buy Paul Kersey blowing up a city block to kill hoodlums but I don't buy Paul Kersey on a boring elaborate espionage mission to disrupt the drug trade. Death Wish died with the end of Winner's involvement, and it was already on fumes by DW3. And as a massive Apes fan it was especially disappointing to see a J Lee Thompson fourth entry to a franchise be so dour and lifeless, because that's not the world as I knew it before I watched Death Wish 4 The Crackdown.
Yeah, I feel pretty much the same way about Death Wish 4: The Letdown. It also lacks energy, it's pretty boring a lot of the time.

I actually have always liked V: The Face of Death. I enjoyed Michael Parks as the bad guy, has some decent action. That one is underrated.

Watch 3 again... but think of it as a black comedy and it really works.

Wouldn't mind having part 5 on bluray to complete my collection. Love these movies.

Since the sequels are getting so much love around here, I have to post these now. Whenever you've got some time to kill, sit back, crack open a brew, relax, and prepare to laugh (WARNING: NSFW):

Hmm, never saw #4, so that video was entertaining. I liked the host. Guess I don't need to watch it now that I saw the highlights! It's too bad how tiny the scale looks compared to 3, but not surprising.

Here's a great montage that captures all of the mayhem in DW3. I love the shot of Gavin O'Herlihy's face before he gets blown through the side of the building with the rocket launcher.

I read a couple forum posts and reviews about Death Wish 3 before seeing it, and did not at all believe the descriptions of the amount of deaths were real. Needless to say, I was not disappointed.

Okay, I think I'm gonna pick up the super cheap blu-ray set containing Death Wish 2, 3 and 4. Shocking I know, but up until now I've only enjoyed these films in terrible standard definition. Not even widescreen. I can't wait to see the masterpiece that is Death Wish 3 in it's proper aspect ratio.

Before I pull the trigger, can anyone sell me on why I should buy the individual releases? I'm well aware that there is a special edition of Death Wish 2 with the much-coveted, extended rape sequence. I'm really not interested in that. I think I'm good with just the regular version in the set. Can anyone persuade me otherwise?

Part 2 has a great transfer with the Shout! release but I'm sure MGM's is great too and I think his daughter's death is much more graphic than the theatrical cut. There's also a commentary by the author of the Making of the Death wish films if that is a plus for you

Bronson's Loose and Bronson's Loose Again are two amazing books. If you're a fan of Charlie, pick them up!

By then any woman should have known better. You get involved with Paul Kersey and you're either gonna end up raped, murdered or both. Not by him, but by association.

Any man should know better too - really, knowing Kersey is just a death sentence.
