I actually just checked my copy and yes, the subtitles are in red for both the German and French dialogue. The French parts (all 2 of them if I'm not mistaken) should be in blue.

As for the title cards, both the Acts and the technical credits are presented exactly like on the US disc, so unless that one is faulty as well, there's nothing wrong there.

It's a weird disc for sure, mostly because the color timing is so different compared to the BD. Having not seen it in theaters it's hard to say if it's true to the source or a Capelight homebrew release.
It's still the best version to own mind you, by default because the others are so botched (US - poor compression, UK - filtered, AUS - only 5.1 audio and the rest are missing the subtitles).

Yep, the US BD looks atrocious, the compression is like a 1990s Quicktime file.

I don't actually own the German UHD, I was just going on what others had reported in the thread for the US BD:

I keep crossing my fingers that another territory will do a proper 4K, but who knows if that will ever happen. For now I just keep going back and forth with the US BD, the German BD, and the Prime 4K stream but none of them are ideal. Sigh.

Not sure which opening credits they're referring to because they're the same on both the US and DE discs.

Pointless bump, but after having just seen the movie (common Guadagnino banger) it's a crying shame that such a beautifully shot and masterfully directed movie gets basically dumped onto BD.

I believe it only redeems in iTunes like many other MGM titles, and the policy is to automatically upgrade to 4K there.

Not at all pointless. Guadagnino's films are all so rich in their imagery that they should be presented as pristine as possible. It's why I hope one day we get "Suspiria" in 4K from Criterion.

I saw this morning that Amazon FINALLY shaved the price down and even Best Buy finally added it to their site.

Yeah, just grabbed from Best Buy. A little pricier than I'd want, but maybe it'll go down in the next week. Even if not, I'll be glad to have it before it surely goes out of print forever lol

Going to either hold out for a nice sale or wait for the UHD. This movie was stunning in theaters and shot on 35MM. Needs to be put on a 4K Disc. Absolutely deserves it, one of the best pictures of last year.

If there is a UHD, it'll be an overseas one. So far, it seems to be BD-only in the markets that have announced it. I think Italy is a contender for a possible UHD, since another recent BD-only-in-the-US MGM title (House of Gucci) got one there, and Guadagnino is Italian, but we shall see.

Not necessarily. Shout Factory just released Wrath of Man:

There's probably an exclusivity window for WB, though, so I wouldn't expect a US 4K release from anyone else until 2024 or 2025.

Interesting! If that's not some sort of exceptional case, then that does bode somewhat well for other BD-only MGM titles.

That came directly through Warner/MGM. It was a rare exception, and must have been something George Miller or somebody demanded in their contract.

In general, MGM doesn't do UHDs. They've just done the Bond films and 3000 Years, I think.

Even big financial hits like House of Gucci didn't get a UHD. 3000 Years, on the other hand, was a financial disaster, which is why I suspect the UHD was done just to fulfill a contract.

I just had a thought though. Wrath of Man was a hit, earning over $100 million during COVID, when box office numbers were decreased.

Bones and All, sadly, was a box office flop, earning less than $15 million worldwide and less than $8 million in the US. That might hurt its chances of a boutique label picking it up.

That said, it's kind of a genre film, in some ways, so that might help.

MGM really doesn't have the resources to provide bonus features for their new movies on video. When friggin' Licorice Pizza has more extras than some of their recent films, and it's friggin' Paul Thomas Anderson of all people, there's a problem.

So I guess the digital copy for this is iTunes only or is it movies anywhere? I know most MGM titles are iTunes only. But I think Dog was movies anywhere.

The press release does not mention it, but according to this unboxing video, it has Dolby Atmos and some special features:
- A Look Inside
- Luca Guadagnino: The Vision of Bones and All
- Meet Lee
- Meet Maren
- Outsiders in Love

Wrath of Man did $25M domestic. I wouldn’t be calling it a hit.
