Typical "Hi I'm a new user!" post... :-)

I live in the bay area of California (Sunnyvale to be specific). Backed the wrong horse initially in the format wars, so I also have a HD-DVD player that's now gathering dust. Got a LG 590 about a month or so ago and am 100% happy with it-- the built-in Netflix and YouTube feature are only beat out for "favorite" by the built-in WiFi. I've had several firmware updates in the month or so I've had it, so that tells me that LG stays on top of things. While I don't have any extended audio equipment to go with it, the HDTV I have (a Panasonic 50") does a great job with this player. So far, I have 16 Blu-Ray titles (one of which, "Seth McFarlane's Calvacade of Cartoon Comedy", is not in the database yet!) in addition to the 200+ "regular" ones.

I also backed the wrong format, but that was before the recently ended one! I picked Beta over VHS, so I understand your pain! Like crazyBLUE said, you're here now and that shows you picked a winner this time. Our blu-ray.com site is without a doubt the best place to be for all things "blu".

Welcome Dustin! Nice to have you aboard! We all have to start somewhere and you picked the right place, because the members on here certainly do know a thing or two about Blu-ray, the players, HDTV's and Audio setups. Be sure to check out the various stickies in each of the sub-forums that interest you, as they contain great information.

If you have a question....just reply and ask . Start your own thread if you like. Be a participant....most of us are and we like having a good time and discussing a great hobby!

I don't really write like that, but I thought I'd grab your attention. Hey there, I'm Dale. Joined yesterday. Fifteen years old, but I'm a big film fan. Unfortunately, my personal DVD collection is quite small (about 250), and I only have one Blu-Ray at the moment (The Dark Knight - it came with the PS3 I bought a few weeks ago.) I don't think I'll be buying much more DVDs, but I hope to build up my Blu Ray collection quite extensively, double-dipping for favourites, DVDs that don't work correctly anymore (!) and films I've always been meaning to buy but have never not round to. I've got a HDMI cable and use the 40" HDTV downstairs for my high-definition viewing pleasures. My favourite film is Blade Runner, my favourite director is Stanley Kubrick, and I also like Batman, Tomb Raider, Joy Division and La Roux.

Just found the thread and thought I'd take the time to introduce myself even tho I've already been here over a month.

I'm Josh, born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I'm 27 and I'm in my 3rd year at the University of Toronto. I went after years of trying to figure out what I wanted to do and then decided I wanted to be a teacher. I'm a double major in History and Political Science.

Being an 80s baby means I grew up in the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons and I still to this day love Transformers (obviously ), He-Man, G.I. Joe and the like. I'm also a huge Batman fan and consider the 1990s animated series to be the greatest cartoon ever. My love for these cartoons skews my views on things.

I love all kinds of movies, but huge summer blockbusters are my personal favourites. Don't know what it is, but I just love them.

My favourite actor is Paul Newman and my bias towards him will leak into my posts.

I'm a huge sports fan, yet even tho I am Canadian I actually don't like hockey all that much. I am a huge football fan tho (Go Ti-Cats).

I've been here since the end of June and I love all the discussions; I'm glad I signed up.
