I finally got around to viewing the second disc, and again I am impressed by WB's remastering effort. "One Froggy Evening" and the Marvin the Martian clips (particularly "Duck Dodgers") look like they could have been animated yesterday.

Was just going to get the digibook edition, but ended up coughing up the additional $10 for the box set.

Hopefully this sells well enough to justify more releases.

Does anyone know if the same cartoons are on the blu ray version as the golden collection?

I can't comment directly (my copy is on it's way), but I know there was some previous discussion on how on some of the shorts there was a problem with dust particles that were trapped within the animation cells and were inherent to the negatives. Was it Earnest Rister that brought that up (did I get that right)?

I remember that it was pretty heavy, in particular, on the "Wearing of the Grin" short from the Golden Collections.

Back when I was working on cel animated projects, I remember how much of a pain it was when the Santa Ana winds were blowing. The air was full of dust and pollen and cels attracted it through static electricity like a magnet. The camera stand had compressed air, but it didn't help.

It's common for cel animation to have dust and dirt (see a lot of anime titles from the 1980s). HD makes it more obvious though. These cartoons were made with physical sheets of plastic photographed over paper backgrounds. You could try to digitally clean it up, but you would run the risk of removing some of the detail. Better to leave them alone, I think.

Disappointed? Yes, but not accusing it of being sloppy, as old as these are, I'm sure it's as good as it can get. I honestly thought they would be able to clean up some of them a bit better, but i guess not.

I'm happy with my collection adn think they ALL look the best in years....just sad that it makes the dust show up even more-so than ever.

Yes, best to leave them alone. However, digitally removing the specks on this one is not as hard as doing it on live action films (I can take a screenshot of this and do it just with MSPaint ). It's 2D and the colors are flat. Grain is good but specks and dirt are not part of the image.

I picked this up at Suncoast today for $48. It was numbered 909 of 36,000. Beautiful box, litho cell, etc.

I got this set for Christmas and I couldn't be happier with it. I just hope Vol. 2s for LT and T&J are announced soon, and that subsequent volumes spotlight different directors besides Chuck Jones. Not that there is anything wrong with his contributions to classic animation, but I was always more of a fan of Tex Avery's, Bob Clampett's, and Friz Freleng's work.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I just picked this up on the weekend. Wow.

I've collected LT/MM on laserdisc, and on DVD, but with this Blu set, it's like seeing some of them for the first time.

Still waiting for a price drop on this. I don't like to pay more than $25 for a digibook.
