It’s not a 4K movie, but a ‘TV show’. Nevertheless being shot in 4K with archival 4K masters being produced with the future in mind.

The Blacklist….

I haven’t been following the ratings since it was picked up for a full season….http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...#axzz2ju8dCedS

But I do watch the show and personally find it enjoyable to view especially after a long day. Again, different strokes for different folks.

No, I have not. Please supply a link….again , if I missed it the first time. Zidane’s skill was exceptional and unlike all the naysayers toward the end of his career, if the Italian defender had insulted my family in a likewise fashion, I too probably would have head butted the scoundrel in the heat of a match. Far worse things have been done in soccer for far less (or no) provocation.

P.S.
I did not include the entire quoted post (above) in sympathy to your recent Sunderland woes…for which I feel for you. We’ll see with the upcoming fixtures over the next few weeks if Arsenal is truly a viable competitor to compete for the Premier league crown.

This might have already been discussed earlier in the thread but aren't the only titles available for 4k are from Sony - Columbia/Tri-Star?

"We are closing in on 100 movies that we have either made or remastered in 4K," says Sony exec Chris Cookson.

Niiiice with Zidane. Niiiice with Sunderland in their Prem match over the weekend.

I’ve watched the ManU v. Arsenal match until RVP’s header (which would be more accurately described as a lucky shoulder-er if you closely watch the replays in slo-mo), so far I don’t like the way Arsenal is failing to send a man out to close down the ManU players on the ball. You can’t give them that much time. Not sure if this is a defensive strategy or a lack of work ethic…either way the goal was bound to happen. I don’t know when I’ll view the remainder of the match for I’ve been very busy utilizing all my free time to contribute to the rescue efforts in the P.I.

I won’t even get to watching any other Prem matches that I recorded.

If by ‘available’ you mean 4K consumer accessible (now) feature motion picture content, then yes pretty much.

But if by ‘available’ you mean what has been mastered in 4K, then no, Sony does a lot but not all…

Received the following article in a PM…. http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/4k-10...1311153442.htm

To Blu-ray.com member ‘lyris’ (David Mackenzie),

Please define exactly the spec of the “native 4K footage” and also how you plan to convert (materials and methods) the native 4K footage to 1080p.

P.S.
Several months ago a ‘blinded’ test involving over 70 volunteers was performed at 2.7m screen to eye distance using uncompressed 4K footage. In summation, the empirical scientifically valid evidence showed a half-grade improvement in PQ (over the converted 1080p material). For comparison, 120fps source material yielded a full grade improvement in PQ (over 60fps source material) in another test.

Hunger is no Game in real life –

For those too young to know or have their fathers or grandfathers who may have fought in the Pacific theater during WWII recount stories about how much the Filipino people gave and suffered in the war effort by being allied with the U.S., although many historical examples exist, this one event may shed some light as to their sacrifices –

“Tragically, shortly following this magnificent rescue, Japanese forces returned and wreaked vengeance on the town of Los Baños, massacring some 1500 helpless Filipino civilians.”….from http://www.rememberlosbanos1945.com/

1,000,000 PS4's are sold in NA, Penton. Where's that 4K support?

I would've thought there would be a few 4K movies available in the store. Don't have one yet but i'm not hearing anything about it.

Also please tell whoever you know at Sony to bring back all of the PS3's media features. It makes absolutely no sense to remove them in PS4. The HT crowd at AVS are upset. Don't abandon the market that helped sell $600 PS3's back in 2006. I don't think there's even any higher sampling rates anymore besides 48khz.

Nothing a few firmware updates can't fix i hope.

Sap, bear with me for a minute as the next paragraph is provided for newbies to the hobby in order to catch up-to-speed-

Cue the history reel of the world of non-stop leisure and entertainment……..back in the day, a lot of home theater enthusiasts bought the PS3 for a total media center device (multimedia functionality) or primarily for an excellent Blu-ray player (realizing that no matter what authoring facility was involved with producing Blu-ray content, the Blu-ray media from various studios/post houses would definitely be tested on a PS3, first and foremost, thusly decreasing the chance for hiccups to occur when consumers played any title on their PS3’s at home)…rather than purchasing the machine exclusively as a gaming device. In fact as an aside, the PS3 went on to become quite the streamer vehicle…. http://www.theverge.com/2012/12/4/37...ng-living-room

So, in terms of 4K, given the recent launch of the PS4, one potential disadvantage of the PS4 is its lack of future-proofing in the sense that if we’re presuming at least a 7 year lifespan (without an interim PS4 ‘Ultimo’ edition), that it does not include HDMI 2.0 (for which a tip of the hat goes out to Panasonic for implementing the LSI hardware chipset with their new TV - http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panas...1309043297.htm ) because, unlike something such as 3D capability or basic 4K playability, it’s rather difficult to ‘firmware update’ HDMI 2.0 (18GBit/s) silicon no matter how good a Sony engineer you are.

On the other hand, at first glance a cute feature that already comes with the PS4 that looks amusing is the demo of the Asobi robots as depicted on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (~ 1½ min. mark) which brings out different inherent characteristics of different personality types -

I thought a firmware update would be all that was needed for PS4 to support HDMI 2.0 specifications. Too bad. Speaking of 3D, the PS4 doesn't support that anymore either.

As for the media features, i did read that Shuhei Yoshida said MP3, DLNA, and audio CD's will be coming back with an update. I hope they add back everything the PS3 had and not just those 3. Video playback from the HDD is something ALOT of people used.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com...firms-yoshida/

I don't get why they were surprised by the negative reactions. You don't take features away that's been there for years. It's 2013, you no longer can have a device that does only one thing. People expect multiple options from whatever electronic device they buy.

To me, meeting HDMI 2.0 spec means the capability to handle 17.82 Gbps (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...82#post8096614 ), which means handling up to 4K/60 10/12 bit 4:2:2 signals.

Unless I was given the wrong information, the chipset inside the current PS4 is inadequate for that…even with a firmware update. Yeah, you can get ‘4K’ thru PS4 with a future firmware update but it will be plain vanilla 4K.

That’s ‘firmware fixable’ in due course with an upgrade if the motivation is there. Not really a problem, except for users who expected it out-of-the-gate.
