Yes, it was meant for the 4K film transfers on Blu-ray thread (couldn't wait for BD announcements). I was not sure if not announced BD titles is off topic , so copied it to this thread also. I should have used the search engine in this thread.

Whether BD announcements are forthcoming or not, unless previously reported by another member, I work the ‘4K transfer’ flicks into the conversation somehow…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...es#post7662154

And, like you , have done so in more than one location…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...sh#post4507580

It brings visibility to the practice of 4K remastering….not to mention making note of studios that are holding back on what they've already got.

Note to mouse house: this is the 60th anniversary of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954). I guess if you miss the opportunity this year, you can always put it on a 4K Blu-ray in a couple more years.

Disney has been holding back from Blu-ray release a couple more 4K transfers which have already been finished and sitting in some vault for several years now….Swiss Family Robinson (1960) and Treasure Island (1950).

Of course, at this point, Disney is very pro HDR (from Carolyn - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/beh...grapher-695432), and I guess another excuse that could be given for their continued delay or disinterest in not offering their non-animation 4K transfers (20,000 Leagues, Swiss Family, Treasure Island) to the Blu-ray faithful is that the studio plans on regrading them in HDR, like was done with Chicagohttps://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Chicago-Blu-ray/94099/ and then offering up that Blu-ray incarnation to enthusiasts.

I guess.

My next door neighbors went to see Transcendence at the local theater last evening as it was ‘date night’ for them. He (a photographer guy by trade) and I occasionally talk movies on our morning bike rides.

His take on the visuals after watching it at a local Multiplex…”fuzzy, dim, muddy browns and whites that weren’t white, if this is Wally’s idea of a way to promote to the masses the superiority of shooting on film and finishing photochemically, he failed miserably”….

You know semi-bro, I have to admit I haven't been at a theater in a long time. Not really because of the source material or the total lack of cinema etiquette, but mostly due to the skills, or lack thereof of what people call projectionists these days. Let's be honest here, if the person handling the presentation doesn't care to calibrate properly more than months apart or even gives a look at what is projected, whatever type of source being used doesn't really matter anymore. Well that's my sad truth around me anyways.

. Oh, I've found ways to really destroy it many times over, and worse. The price from being in a rock band and having went to way too many heavy rock concerts without any protection whatsoever. Good to hear I'm not wasting the precious little I still have hehe

I liked
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097262/

Especially the bar jam scene, for the ‘look of revelation’ on Hilton’s face once he figured it out and the ‘look of awe’ from the young whipper-snapper, Rick. Not to mention the fact I always found the lady walking into the bar, Marina Orsini (from Québec) to be quite attractive -

Ah, a classic

As for miss Orsini, indeed a fine example of the true Québécois (and mostly Montreal) woman. She did very well here and some abroad. And many times sexier live semi-bro, many times indeed hehe
