Is ‘Black Friday’ one of our (the U.S.’s) best or worst exported traditions?...http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/28/world/...ack-friday-uk/

I especially enjoyed AngryBritain’s accounting perspective tweet with pic… https://twitter.com/AngryBritain/sta...220224/photo/1

All our relatives have now left our humble abode after visiting us for Thanksgiving so I can catch up on this weekend’s soccer action (Premier League including the West Brom v. Arsenal match and rooting for Steed's Sunderland boys at the Chelsea match), or as PeterTHX would say when referring to the sport of soccer/football in general, watch grass grow….

And, as many of you might remember, just recently theatrically released Fury's master format is 4K.

Thanks man.

Well, we showed the necessary grit and dug in for the draw. To stop Chelsea scoring for the first time this season was an achievement on its own. Good match as well with 45,000 fans creating a fantastic atmosphere and we really got behind the team and roared them on. Next up is a Man City! having said that, we have beat them 1-0 at home for the past four seasons!

Getting back to 4K, I was tempted to get David Attenborough's Life Stories this week but if it was shot in 4K, I may wait and make it my first 4K bluray!

On Any Sunday The Next Chapter

Shot in 4K, finished in 4K with 4K DCP deliverables (which merits mentioning )….contrary to which is reported here – “with startlingly crisp HD imagery” http://variety.com/interstitial/#u=h...7a81e1d57b77ae

Very cool. On Any Sunday was the first movie I ever saw as a kid and it was played religiously in my home throughout my childhood. I can't wait to see the new one.

I would have thought you would already know that 4k discs are coming late next year? Surely you researched that before splashing out on a new 4k tv? Also Netflix and Amazon are/will be streaming in 4k (poor mans 4k in my opinion) very soon. I think Netflix has already started.

Until then, another thing that I’m still a bit perplexed about is that with my theatrical viewing experiences, not only were there scenes in which the imagery was soft overall, but even granted a short depth of the field with the glass…

the focus itself in some shots seemed *off*. Intentional? or not?...honestly, I don’t know. What I’m talking about is that for instance, instead of the presumed (by me) center of attention in the scene being the most sharply focused, I’d see something relatively inconsequential, behind or in front of it, to be the most in focus. Or, looking at the illustrative pic above, imagine the shirt of the guitarist being in perfect focus rather than his fingers on the strings.
I know this isn't strictly 4K related but I saw Interstellar in 2K digital a couple days ago and I thought it looked excellent overall. The super-soft shots like McConaughey crying were present and correct, but I wasn't imagining the clarity of the shots of Jessica Chastain that I mentioned previously (though that may have been in the large format movie thread). Even her non-IMAX shots have a genuine sense of sharpness and detail, and it's strange how this movie seems to do the opposite of the Hollywood convention of lensing the ladies with a soft filtered look.

but I wouldn’t at all be surprised if rather than simply taking Michael’s word and that of the hired investigators from the cyber forensics firm, some former employees and perhaps even some current employees decide to test in a court of law the premise that the Company actually failed to install/implement adequate security measures and that the employees subsequently have suffered injury-in-fact in the form of, among other things …embarrassment, inconvenience, mental distress, concern for identity theft, concern for damage to credit reports and, god forbid, actual identity theft.

I would say that the corporate structure at Sony Pictures better hope that a state-sponsored agency (in this case, North Korea) were the culprits rather than a private group of international hackers using similar tactics because the former would probably make it easier for the cyber geek experts to prove that there wasn’t negligence involved in terms of inadequate security measures. These types of employee vs. employer things have gone to court in the past…. Allison v. Aetna, Inc. C.A. No. 2:09-2560

Just wondering if I should sell off a little of my family’s shares now in case things get really ugly and SNE stock price takes a big dip.

And so it goes…http://fusion.net/story/31469/sony-p...mer-employees/ especially with past comments from the security Director like it’s “a “valid business decision to accept the risk” of a security breach.

SNE stock value seems to be weathering the storm, though . If some readership not owning Sony stock in their portfolios wonder why at all this hacking issue is even remotely relevant to this thread, well, it’s because Sony Pictures has been at the forefront of 4K content finishing and delivery, i.e. at every step of the chain. Some good news …Ultra HD/4K TV/UHD ecosystem movement starting to gain some awareness by the non-videophile (general public)….http://blogs.strategyanalytics.com/C...l-ratings.aspx
