Yeah... I still haven't even checked out that posthumous album yet. As interesting as they can be as a curiosity, they're not true and representative of those artists work... I still should give it a listen though.

Oh I definitely wanna see the doc, ever since I heard about it, I wanted to. I love a well made doc. So I'll be getting it when it comes out for sure. Still would've preferred a biopic, but that's another story.

Hey, if the Wu doesn't click, it doesn't click. Not everything can be for everybody. I'd say that Liquid Swords is one of the best of their output, so it doesn't get much better than that. Each member has a solid solo album though, and the styles vary, vastly. Tical for Method Man, Iron Man for Ghostface and Bobby Digital for RZA are some standouts. ODB was one interesting cat, he has a very love-it-or-leave-it style. Much like Tom Waits and his seemingly nonsensical warbling blues, his raunchy lyrics put off a lot of people. (hence his name; he's filthy and there's no father to his style)

Ooo Kittie. There's a name I haven't heard in a while. I wonder if they're together still...
Never heard Cynic. I'll have to check them out, thanks.

Yeah, of the Nu-Metal scene Deftones definitely did it best and grew out of those confines. It's funny, back in high school, all my friends were all about KoRn, Limp Bizkit and the like, and I always maintained that Deftones was the best, most artistic band of them, with the most staying potential. And while all the other bands struggle to put together a decent album these days, Deftones has been going strong consistently throughout the years. Growing, morphing, showing the raw talent.

It's hard to say what's a good starting ground. Each album is so different in style and mood. But I'd probably say White Pony is the most diverse and fully realized album. There's probably a reason it's their most popular.
But I wouldn't completely judge them on that album alone. They have so many different influences that everything they do is different.

This cover is a perfect example of how varied they are.

There's a handful of good tunes on there. You're right that it isn't a realized piece of art, just odds and ends. Reminds me of Armageddon in Retrospect, a posthumous collection of Kurt Vonnegut short stories. Has hints of his greatness, but wouldn't move those unfamiliar with his work.

At the BBC is a somewhat better album of live tracks. Includes a DVD (there's also a two DVD version you can import). Not essential, but still strong.

There was at least one unauthorized biopic rushed out after her death. Morbid curiosity hasn't been strong enough to overcome my repulsion at such shameless exploitation.

If a legit film were made about her life, who'd you imagine in the starring role?

They're still truckin'. Currently they're working on a documentary about the band. I contributed a couple bucks to the Indiegogo campaign and got a poster.

To be honest, I haven't listened to them much, but really liked them when I have. Unique.

Deftones - No ordinary love - YouTube
Will put them on my listen-list. Always looking for new music. White Pony, reminds me of The White Horse, a painting by August Strindberg:

Okay, so they're totally unrelated, aside from their titles, but I stumbled on this guy's work recently and just had to share.

Oh dude, trust me. I'm a fiend with movies. It's a serious vice, but I guess there are worse things one could be addicted to...lol
When I quit smoking weed shortly after high school, I turned all my addictions to collecting. At times I feel bad or stupid for all the money I've wasted on all this shit, but at least I still have something to show for it...
Unlike with most other addictions.

Whoa, how did I miss this?! Sorry about that.

I'll have to check out that BBC disc. That's a good question, but I can't really think of anyone off the top of my head to play her. I'm sure there's plenty of actresses that could knock it out of the park, but none off the top of my head.
Possibly Lady Gaga... But we don't really know if she has any acting chops, since she's so far only appeared in grindhouse movies. Who knows, maybe after American Horror Story we'll see she can act...

Wow. Crazy, I'll have to catch myself up. The last time I heard of them was when I saw them open up for SlipKnot back in 2000 I believe...

That's a pretty cool piece. But I must admit, I've never really "got" art. Totally ashamed of it, and I've tried several times to study pieces of art, but I've never felt the connection or draw to them that other aesthetes do. I appreciate the form and everything it represents, but I've just never been moved by a piece...
