Parasite is finally getting a 4K + bluray release in South Korea! The editions included are two Fullslips and a Quarter-slip. The 3rd disc could be special features or B&W version, I’m not so sure yet. Fullslip A comes with a 60-pages essay book while Fullslip B comes with a 120-pages photobook. There is also the CJ Digipak version, which can be seen in the CJ dedicated sticky thread here.

PREORDER DATE: December 10th, 2020.

RELEASE DATE: January, 2021. Exact date unknown yet.

The Wailing had English support also, including on the making of, so maybe this will be good for international buyers.

Injoingan spent 4 years making The Wailing and they announced that they would include English subs for their extras a long time before visuals were released. I doubt this would have the same, but I'd love to be proven wrong!

Now, when it comes to the book material compared to other versions released in the past (essay book vs photo book), which seems to be the more popular version? I think The Wailing had the same exact content materials for their Full Slip A vs Full Slip B (except for different outer slipcase artwork).

Not gonna lie, both of these look really appealing right now. Thankfully, I only got the regular Blu-ray steelbook, so I suppose I could justify double-dipping (tripple-dipping?) for the UHD version.

How long are these gonna last, I wonder? What time are pre-orders supposed to go live? I own the Criterion edition, but Fullslip A is tempting me; I guess it wouldn't hurt to own this on UHD...

edit: The photo book that comes with Fullslip B would probably be a lot more interesting to me than an essay book I can't read, though I still prefer the artwork on version A...

Curious to see if the fine detail and compression will be similar to the FR disc which is the best one, but that one doesn't have English subtitles.

Hmm, should have got the SK version. It looks nice. The Australian version is cheaply made in comparison. Plus, I don't even have a 4K Tv so I have to watch the Black and White bluray.

Well, that went quickly. Nova were sold out of at least Type B before I could even order despite being logged in just prior to it going live. I got one from KimchiDVD, but they already had Type A "out of stock". I was shocked that Type B was still available. Now it is also gone at Kimchi.

Ya they sold out so fast on kimchidvd, I ended up ordering my Type A from https://plainarchive.com/... Funny they all still seem to be available there while kimchi and nova sold out of all 3 variations in literally 5-10 minutes.

According to the Plain site, the essay book included with Type A has "Partially English Text Support", so maybe it'll be as worthwhile as the photo book after all.
