Default Disney Digital Service, Disney Anywhere Official Thread

UPDATE FALL 2017: Disney Movies anywhere is ending and becoming Movies Anywhere. For a limited time, the movies in your DMA account can be transferred into your new Movies Anywhere account, but DMA will be shutting down at an unknown time, so best to transfer now. https://moviesanywhere.com/welcome

The MA thread https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=286055

There is more than one way to transfer from DMA to MA, but I created a new MA account and linked it to vudu first. Then I used the option to "migrate" my DMA collection to MA and it worked fine with everything importing from DMA and exporting to Vudu without issue or loss of titles.

Movies Anywhere (MA) is not ultraviolet and does not transfer titles redeemed there into a uv locker, shared or otherwise. It will allow titles you own to transfer between certain linked retail accounts (see below). If you want to retain the uv rights on eligible non-Disney titles (Disney titles were never uv) and have them appear in the UV locker, then redeem the code in Vudu. If you want the Disney Movie Rewards (DMR) points, you will now need to redeem the code at the DMR website for points and then in another provider for the digital movie.

MA will allow you to connect to Amazon, Vudu, iTunes and/or Google Play, so you can house your own collection under one roof, so to speak, but if you're sharing with friends/family like many of us are, the uv locker is still important for that purpose.

Other important notes:

The days of an SD code being upgraded to HD from Disney or otherwise are finished. It has been stated that new SD codes will redeem in and stay in SD, that as of mid-November 2017. Anything that was redeemed and had been upgraded already prior to that announcement will keep the upgraded version ("grandfathered in").

MA does not support UHD at this time. If you redeem UHD at MA, the service will allegedly grant you the UHD rights for other linked participating providers. That has not been the case for me with Disney titles, though, so not sure if that is a glitch or if the info about UHD rights is incorrect instead.

You can buy movies directly from MA - if you are on an andtroid or windows device, you will have the option for purchase from Vudu, Amazon or Google Play as the retail partner. If you are on an apple device, you will be directed to iTunes only unless you use the browser to go to a retail partner site and complete the purchase that way.

Since DMA no longer allows new accounts and will be shutting down completely in the future, I will not be continuing to add to the list of eligible Disney titles. That list was there primarily for the purpose of determining which DMR codes would result in getting a digital copy via DMA, so no need to maintain going forward.

I am leaving all of the original information in this post as a reference point/

Disney's entire library of 400-plus active digital movies will be available to users those with digital copies of movies already on their iTunes can sync them with their Disney Movies Anywhere account to watch on the app, and unused codes for digital copies contained in Blu-ray and DVD releases since 2008 can be used with the new service.

UPDATE 2/26/17: ALL codes that redeem via digital copy plus have moved to single redemption! This appears to be a retroactive change effecting all of the DC+ redemption codes. If you redeemed via DMR pts, it will no longer give a second movie redemption via DC+. If you redeemed originally via DC+ on an older code (issued prior to the 2016 Snow White release) and did not use the points, it MIGHT still work for a points-only redemption, but probably not for long. As of right now, xml/disc redemptions are still working independently of the points redemptions. Another remember reports on 3/1 the he/she called Disney to ask about the possibility of eliminating the double dipping on the older disc-required codes and was told that wouldn't happen. Take that for what it's worth.

UPDATE 2/4/16 - Newly issued codes have moved to a single redemption format starting with Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs signature collection release that came out on 2/2/16.

Option 1: If you redeem the digital copy portion first by entering the code directly into a provider site (vudu, iTunes, amazon etc), then you must also go to the DMR site to claim your points. In that case, the points will add at the correct value to DMR, but it will NOT give you an option to play or watch the movie from the point redemption since the DC portion was invalidated after code was initially redeemed at the provider site. The movie will already be in your DMA account, however, from the earlier DC redemption that was done directly with the provider.

Option 2: If you redeem first at DMR site, you will get the points and the movie will be added to your DMA collection and will transfer into your linked DMA accounts. It will appear with the standard play "play now" link next to it in the DMR list. The DC part is invalidated when you redeem at DMR first and therefore will not allow a second redemption for the digital copy.

Option 3: Redeem at DMA site and get points and movie added with one code entry. As with other options, this will invalidate the DC portion so it is valid for only a single digital copy.

UPDATE 9/8/15 - new services added: The Disney Movies Anywhere service launches today on Amazon and Microsoft Movies and TV. Next week, a DMA app will launch on Roku and Android TV. As with the other services already on board, you buy the movie once (or enter the digital code) and you will be able to access on all platforms that you connect with your DMA account.

UPDATE November 2014 Google Play added: Now available for Android devices! Download the Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA)app, link to your Disney Movie Rewards (DMR) account and you are set (more details below about how to link etc.)

UPDATE 11/18/14 - NOW AVAILABLE TO LINK TO VUDU! You can now choose to sync your Disney Movies Anywhere account to one or all of these services: ITunes, Vudu, Google Play. Once you sync to selected service(s), all of the movies in your DMA account will appear in each of the selected services!

You will see your full DMA library in iTunes, Vudu and/or Google Play as long as you make sure of the following:
  1. 1. You choose the provider(s) you want to use in the sync options in your Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA) account
  2. 2. Your DMA account is linked to your DMR account
  3. 3. You use the same log-in for the DMR account and the linked DMA account
.

No need to enter the movie multiple times to see in more than one provider - if you own it in one of those places, it will appear in any of the 3 providers that you choose to sync.

http://www.digitalcopyplus.com/providers

List of titles below that should be eligible for DMA via DMR points redemption or digital copy code redemption. I will continue to update as necessary.

The list below shows both older codes that required a disc and redeemed only in itunes format and the newer codes which don't require a disc and offer multiple redemption partners (vudu, itunes, google play or amazon video in most cases).

You can also now buy several Disney titles on Vudu, iTunes etc that WILL work in DMA even though the original release never had a digital copy, however the list below covers only titles that came with a physical code sheet at release.
Look for titles online marked with "Disney Movies Anywhere" notation/symbol. When you buy those movies in a digital format from Vudu, iTunes or other eligible providers, the movie will be added to your DMA account AND you will be credited with DMR points for your purchase. Of course this requires accounts to be linked to get dmr points and for titles to transfer among linked DMA accounts.

Only those titles that originally came with digital copies are eligible when redeeming via DMR points. For example, Toy Story requires redemption from the 3D pack and will show up if you either redeemed the iTunes code when you bought it or entered the DMR points from the 3D version (which came with a digital copy). The regular 2d Blu-ray and/or the dvd from Toy Story won't add to DMA via points redemption because that version was never sold with a digital copy. Make sure you know which versions originally came with a DC before you buy!

HOW IT WORKS IF YOU HAVE EXISTING DISNEY ACCOUNTS AND/OR ITUNES and/or Google Play for Android:

1. Download the Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA) app to your ios device (requires ios7 or later) or your Android device (via the google play store). Don't log in yet though.

2. Log into your account at Disney Movie Rewards (DMR) and click on the banner that takes you to DisneyMoviesAnywhere.com

3. Sign in at DisneyMoviesAnywhere and follow instructions to link your iTunes account to the DMA account you just opened.

**If you get an error message that offers to send you an email for help, select that option. When that email arrives, click on the link inside that says "Disney Account Help". That should open a browser window that will allow you to select the account you want to be Primary. You should always choose the log-in associated with your Disney movie rewards account if you have one because it will import eligible titles from there.

If you have multiple accounts with different log-in from Disney companies like DMR, ESPN, ABC, Disney Movie Club, Disney Store etc, that is what seems to be causing the conflict with setting up the new DMA account. After you select one of the choices as provided on the page that opens from the email link, you will then be able to proceed with opening the account.

4. Follow instructions at DMA to link your existing iTunes account (assume you will be prompted to create one if you don't have existing)

5. After DMA and iTunes accounts have been successfully linked, open the downloaded DMA app on your device and log-in. You should see all of your eligible titles in the app and you're ready to go for viewing or downloading!

IF YOU HAVE NO DISNEY ACCOUNTS AT ALL:

Start at the http://www.DisneyMoviesAnywhere.com home page and follow the on-screen instructions.

IF YOU HAVE DISNEY ACCOUNT(S) BUT NO ios7 OR LATER DEVICES:

You should still be able to stream through your browser, but it is recommended that you use the latest version of Chrome or Firefox. There are known compatibility issues with internet explorer 11 (and with windows 7 64 bit in general) that may cause issues with playback. You will also need to have flash player 11.0 or higher installed.

You can also watch on Android phones and tablets by downloading the app from the Google Play store and linking it to your DMR account.

WHAT MOVIES WILL TRANSFER INTO THE NEW DMA ACCOUNT?

If you have linked your Disney Movie Rewards account with the Disney Movies Anywhere account by using the same log-in for both, the DMA service will "search" your DMR account for redeemed Disney codes from 2008 to present. Any codes that you entered into DMR that were initially eligible for a digital copy download should import into the DMA account, even those for which you may not have redeemed the digital copy prior. The eligible movies will also transfer into DMA even if you have redeemed the digital copy already on vudu or in iTunes. Exceptions are detailed below in section about movies that won't transfer in.

Those same eligible titles will then appear with a blue "watch now" link next to them in your DMR account (assuming you are successfully linked to DMA account). You can see the list by logging into DMR, go to "My DMR", select "Points Earned". If you have a lot of them it will show only the most recent until you scroll down and click on the link that says "all points earned". See below for the list original provided from Andysol that lists movies title by title.

Movies that are purchased directly from iTunes or Vudu which are also marked as DMA-eligible will transfer into your other DMA linked services as of late 2014. This is independent of any DMR points redemption or digital copy redemption and applies to titles purchased from a participating DMA provider.

WHAT MOVIES WILL NOT TRANSFER INTO THE NEW DMA ACCOUNT?

1. Digital copy codes/Disney Movie Rewards points codes entered prior to 2008

2. Movies from associated Disney companies like Buena Vista, Touchstone etc - this includes The Help, War Horse, Gnomeo & Juliet etc.

3. Codes from DMR that never came with a digital copy to begin with. In other words, if you originally bought and entered points for Little Mermaid combo pack that did not include a digital copy at the time of purchase, you will not get a digital copy in DMA. On the flip side, if you originally bought and entered the points for The Little Mermaid combo pack that DID include a digital copy at the time of purchase, you will get that release in your associated DMA account even if you never redeemed the digital copy before.

4. Some older Marvel releases which were originally released by Paramount will now import if you have purchased directly from iTunes or Vudu - this currently includes Iron Man, but not The Hulk. Newer Marvel releases like IM 2/3, Thor Dark World, etc WILL transfer into the app from the digital copy redemption OR from the Disney Movie Rewards points code redemption.

5. No titles from any of these series are transferring into DMA at this time: Doc McStuffins, Jake & the Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure and Phineas & Ferb.

GNOMEO & JULIET: Customer support at DMA says "will not import because it was released under the Touchstone banner (a Disney company); it does show "play now" in my list on DMR but CS indicated this was a mistake and that it's not going to import

PHINEAS & FERB: Customer support at DMA says "will not import because it's a tv show"; have Perry Files in iTunes and have P&F the Movie in my DMR acct with "play now" next to it which is what eligible titles have, but CS indicated this is a mistake and that it's not going to import

HOW CAN I TELL IF A CODE HAS BEEN USED ALREADY?

[Show spoiler]If you are checking DMR points:

Go to the DMR website http://www.disneymovierewards.go.com/ and enter the code WITHOUT LOGGING IN. Typically a valid and unused code will show the title of the movie and ask you to log in to finish the process, while an invalid/used code will take you to a generic log-in page without showing the movie title associated with the code.

FYI: If you try to enter too many invalid (previously redeemed) codes in a row while logged in, it will lock your DMR account. I have never had this happen, but have heard of it several times. I think it's a relatively small number - like maybe 10 - so be careful how often you do and I would make sure to enter some valid codes in between as well if you are getting a lot of previously redeemed messages.

Of course if you attempt to redeem a VALID code into DMR while logged in, it is going to add it to your DMR account if you don't already have that title OR it will pop up with a message saying you have already redeemed a code for that title.

If you are checking Digital copy points from a release that requires no disc to redeem:

If you just want to check DC validity for newer releases that don't require a disc or xml to redeem, type the code into digitalcopyplus.com and it will show you the options. As long as you don't select an option, sign in to the retailer etc, it won't invalidate it.

HOWEVER, if you select a retailer option from the digitalcopyplus.com website, the code will be linked specifically to that service from that point on even if you don't log in to the retailer to finish the process. For instance, if you select vudu but never log into vudu to complete the transfer and then trade the code, the person who gets the code in trade will be able to use ONLY the vudu option (or whatever retailer you selected) even if all options are originally shown. Once you select a retailer option for a code, it is tied to that retailer from that point regardless of who ultimately redeems the code.

If you are checking Digital Copy points from release that requires a disc to redeem:

If you want to check DC validity for an older release that required a disc to redeem, type the code into ITunes using the "redeem" link (located on right in quick links from iTunes store home page) and it should pop up and ask you to log-in and to insert the disc if it is a valid code. According to member reports, this will tell you if you have entered a valid sequence of characters (i.e no typoes), but will NOT tell you if it has been redeemed or not until the disc is inserted. That would mean there is no way to determine until actual full redemption if it has been used or not..

OLD INFO no longer relevant regarding multiple redemption scenarios (but preserved for posterity)
[Show spoiler]
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR MULTIPLE REDEMPTION SCENARIOS & LINK TO THE FLOWCHART with thanks to forum member Incoherent:

[Show spoiler]See 2-26-16 update at the top of the thread. Most multiple redemption scenarios are now dead. This appears to be a retroactive change effecting all of the DC+ redemption codes.
  • If you redeemed via DMR pts, it will no longer give a second movie redemption via DC+.
  • If you redeemed originally via DC+ on an older code and did not use the points, it MIGHT still work for a points redemption, but probably not for long.
  • As of right now, xml/disc redemptions are still working independently of the points redemptions, but not sure how long that might last either.

REDEMPTION FLOWCHART is updated by Incoherent on a regular basis (be sure to thank her!) and can be found here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=3263

STEP-BY-STEP

If the DC is obtained via digitalcopyplus.com redemption (i.e. look what the insert tells you to do to get a digital copy), then you should check the providers: http://redeemdigitalmovie.com.

Notice that some movies, for example Super Buddies, Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone etc, only have Amazon/Vudu redemption options with NO iTunes option available. In that situation, the person redeeming digital copy CANNOT get an iTunes copy without also redeeming for the Disney Movie Rewards (DMR) points. Only the person redeeming DMR/DMA will get the iTunes copy because it is only available via the DMA app (which is linked to your DMR account and imports the titles based on your DMR code redemptions). **UPDATE: Disney seems to have updated most titles to allow choice of amazon, google play, iTunes or vudu for the moment. A few titles may still be missing one of those options, but most will have all of them.**

If the movie DOES have "iTunes" listed as a redemption option on digitalcopyplus.com, then the second redeemer can still get iTunes via the outline below.

If the movie IS NOT a digitalcopyplus.com redemption, then it requires a physical disc for digital copy. I believe all of these support iTunes redemption (have yet to see one that doesn't). The options here are iTunes or Windows Media Player (WMP). To redeem the iTunes copy for this, you need the second redeemer to use the disc or xml method, and this would be done via iTunes.

In both cases, you can maximum "double-dip".

If movie redeems without a disc via digitalcopyplus.com:

1) Redeeming the code for Disney Movie Reward points or redeeming the code directly in the DMA app will get the iTunes copy

2) You can then choose one "provider of your choice" as offered for that title. There will be a list of options on the digitalcopyplus.com site. It will be some combination of iTunes/Vudu/Amazon/Google Play, but not every release will offer every option.

If digital copy redeems with a disc required:

1) Redeeming the code for Disney Movie Reward points or redeeming the code directly in the DMA app will get the iTunes copy

2) The second copy for itunes or Windows media player (WMP) will require the same code used with either the digital copy disc OR the xml file for that title

full launch article from usa today:

[Show spoiler]For those who want to watch Disney movies anywhere, now there's an app with all that right there in the name.

Launching today, Walt Disney Studios' cloud-based Disney Movies Anywhere digital movie service allows young and old to watch all their favorite Disney, Pixar and Marvel Studios movies on an Internet browser, Apple TV (through iCloud or AirPlay) or via a free app for their iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.

In addition, Disney lovers can also peruse digital titles, check out bonus features, watch previews and even earn Disney Movie Rewards points with digital buys.

All they need now is 'Disney Anywhere' Android apps and Smart TV Apps and break away from the iTunes only mentality.

I can report that the fastest/easiest way to do this is to first download the app on your tablet or phone, then log into disneymovierewards account and look for the banner for the new service, click that and use same log-in that you used for Disney movie rewards at the new site for Disney Movies Anywhere. Then it will give you the option to link to iTunes. After you link with iTunes, you will be given the free movie The Incredibles. After accounts are linked, then log in on your tablet or phone to the app and it will all be there

Now for something really interesting - I have a bunch of things available in this account via the app that I chose to redeem in vudu - mary poppins, jungle book, sword in the stone etc. I never had those in iTunes to begin with, but they were consolidated and pulled into the new app alongside my original collection from iTunes.

And even more interesting - I also got some titles that I never redeemed for a digital copy at all like Hannah Montana and Bedtime Stories. I had redeemed points for those, but never the digital copies.

What I didn't get was Captain America, Thor (oringal) or Iron Man (original) - presumably because they weren't Disney titles when they came out initially. Also no Iron Man 3 or Lone Ranger even though I did redeem it for points and digital copy and it was Disney. I did get Iron Man 2 however.

EDIT: figured out that no IM3 or Lone Ranger because I had gotten those from the vudu pre-order package at Wal-Mart.

Guys, if have older disney titles redeemed in your account and redeemed the ones that required discs or redeemed in SD, check your library or purchased section to see if you were upgraded to HD. I have a few titles that were upgraded to HD that were SD before connecting my itunes account.

That's what I wanted to confirm as well. Went through a proxy but it was worth it!!

Most of my titles have been upgraded to HD. I logged out of itunes and then back in and now everything is in HD! Finally! That's the reason I've been collecting digital copies for so long!

The titles that have been vudu exclusive (Sword in the Stone, Winnie the Pooh etc) have all been added to my library in HD!!!!

I still have some disney movies that required disc that I haven't redeemed yet, I wonder if I redeem them now if they will be HD.

These are the movies that have been upgraded to HD for me

Iron Man 2
Monsters Inc
Tron The Orignal Classic
John Carter
Wall-E
Finding Nemo
Beauty and the Beast

I actually gave/traded these two code away, but I am able to download them in HD now.

Wreck it Ralph
Frankenweenie

The Incredibles finally showed up

Nevermind. Looks every title that I redeemed the DMR points with that came with the DC have been added to my iTunes account in HD. I didn't even realize that I haven't even redeemed the DC part of John Carter or Monster's Inc in iTunes yet.

Hey, responding to your post from the free codes thread. I suspect that if have redeemed you DMR code at the DMR site, then you you movies should be in HD. Also if you have you Disney movies downloaded to your PC. You want to delete those movies and re-download them. It should show up as HD then.

1) Guys do your movies still have iTunes Extras? The ones that have just been added on my account don't seem to have any and some of my old ones don't either (Ralph, Frankenweenie).

2) Both Wall-E and Iron Man 3 were from DVDs but they are both HD now

3) Has anyone tried what happens with movies that didn't have a DC version? (Aristocats, Oliver etc)

Thanks, maybe I don't know where to look. Believe it or not I'm new to iTunes. How can I check to see if they are SD or HD?

When you click on a movie in your library a menu should drop down. If it's HD it will show an "HD" sign next to the date of the movie right beneath the title.

If you haven't downloaded them to your PC, then when you go to your itunes store in the iTunes program, click the 'Purchased' near the redeem link. Then, look under the movies and you will see a list of movies in your iCloud and it will have an HD near its name if it comes in HD. You also might want to try to logging out of you itunes account and logging back in in order to see the changes. I had to do that for my ipad in order see my new movies and HD movies.

Wonder how this will affect DC+ for future movies? It seems based on DMR and iTunes, so maybe now it's DMA and another provider could possibly be both available to redeem for future movies. However, the DC+ website doesn't clear this up and states DMA+iTunes is now a redemption option.

So, having never seen The Incredibles, I just had to do it. Disney knows how to pull my strings.

Question, though: Why did I also get a copy of WALL-E added to my collection? It's one of the movies with which I redeemed points through Disney Movie Rewards, but 1.) I redeemed points for other movies through DMR so why would I get just that one? And 2.) I redeemed points for the regular vanilla DVD and received an HD copy in iTunes. The streaming page even contains links to watch a bunch of bonus features I'm pretty sure my DVD didn't come with.

Unadvertised bonus?

EDIT: So my account page confirms that I received WALL-E on account of the fact that I redeemed points for it through DMR. I would have preferred Tangled, but I won't complain.

I don't know, but I hadn't redeemed my Jungle Book for iTunes yet. When I linked my itunes account to Disney to go, I assumed the code was already redeemed. Well, just for fun, I entered the code in Vudu, and I was able to redeem it in Vudu.
