People can do whatever they want, but if I was a filmmaker/artist I would be offended. Directors, editors, sound designers, etc work carefully on what the movie/ TV should be paced like, what the atmosphere should be, and what every intricate sound should do for the scene. When you are speed watching all of this is thrown out the window and you are just watching for information. If you just want to know what happens to be part of the conversation, you'd save more time by reading a recap.

Like they say in the movie Bright Star "The point of diving in a lake is not to immediately swim to the shore, but to be in the lake. To luxuriate in the sensation of water"

If I watch Hitchcock on 1.5 speed does he become the master of action instead of suspense?

When you truly appreciate something, it can be troubling to think the majority of others do not, and what you love may soon become rare.

Will digital replace blu-rays? Will blu-rays become a niche item and more expensive? Will huge 3D blockbusters overshadow and force the more artistic movie to the direct-to-video market? Will the home theater market cut too deeply into the theaters causing them to become obsolete like video game arcades? Why does popular music all sound so electronic? What happened to musical instruments and lyrics?

It's guess it's just evolution. Now excuse me while I go watch The Force Awakens with my PS4 on my Samsung with Dolby Surround. And get off my lawn you kids with your crazy clothes and music!

It is wrong, all kinds of wrong. Have you heard someone speak in 2.0x? It's a travesty. As I have said before, Digital represents the 'Bastardisation' of film. We seem to sink to new levels every year.

You really need to get over this and move on. Go watch a movie at normal speed. Just ignore this. It will not affect you at all.

Unless studios begin to hate money then no one person will not start anything.

I usually skip every other chapter. It leaves me on the edge of my seat figuring out what I missed.

Well yes, i can't handle 1.5x and above because people will be talking too fast for me absorb what they are saying. But i don't see a problem with 1.2x and 1.25 for You Tube videos

I don't even watch movies, I just read plot summaries and pretend I know everything.

Well, you're still relaxing, it's just the movie that's sped up. The watcher isn't expending any extra energy or anything. It's not stressful.

But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes more popular with younger generations who feel less beholden to (or even less familiar with) the theatrical experience. The popular opinion is already that cinema is entertainment, not art. And if someone only watches vapid popcorn movies anyway, there's not too much nuance for them to miss. Like how deep can you get inside the headspace of Megan Fox and the teenage mutant turtles at any speed? But I'm sure then some will grow to be more appreciative, want to take it more seriously, find better movies and view them more respectfully.

I would never watch anything sped up. That makes me feel stressed, and I'd be afraid of the side effects. I wonder if it changes the way people think too if they watch everything sped up. It just doesn't compute for me either, like Steedeel. But I don't see it becoming the norm or ever being forced on everyone. Filmmakers and film lovers (like me) would be in an uproar.

A tiny amount of people are doing it with some content. That doesn't meant there will ever be a time when they will "remove the normal speed option" from the content we purchase and/or watch. That's just ridiculous, and it makes it seem like you don't have a strong grasp on reality.

No, they're really not. They're founded on paranoid delusions and irrational fears. As others have said, you're going to waste your life worrying about things that will likely never happen at all, let alone in our lifetime.

I find this hard to believe, maybe I'm from a different generation. I can't even stop a film halfway to continue a few hours later. I always begin again from the start so I can really immerse myself into the story.
