To be honest, I've never been big on traveling. There's places in the world I think are beautiful, but going there always seemed so frightening to me. I guess its because I know laws are always changing in different countries, so I fear not being able to get back home. I also have a fear of flying, and while I've learned to deal with it in the USA, crossing the sea still scares me. I've been isolated for the bulk of my life, and the one extended trip I took away from home led to disaster. I do want to see the Statue of Liberty for myself, along with Mount Rushmore and the Hollywood sign...but that's about it.

^If you ever make it there, Mount Rushmore is quite something to see in person. My family took a big road trip in the summer of 1994 and that was one of our stops. (And the furthest east I've been from California.) Of course, I'd loved North by Northwest since I was a kid, so getting to see it in person and eat in the same cafeteria from the film was even more exciting.

My ex-girlfriend's been to Rushmore a few times, even sending me a postcard from there last year (its the only thing I have left from her). I've wanted to see it for several years, especially after "National Treasure 2" came out.

I also forgot to mention that if I ever visit New York, I'll definitely check out the 9/11 Memorial. Its too important for any patriot to ignore, even if you didn't know the people personally.

I hadn't traveled outside of NorCal until college, but since then been averaging 1 big trip a year. Traveling helped me really appreciate where I am, you see the similarities and also the differences that make each place unique. I knew it intellectually from watching and reading things, but it's really not the same as you actually being there.

I really like history so Europe is pretty amazing for me. At the Tower of London, there's a piece of a wall from Roman times there. And just walking around you can see various buildings with WWII damage - no museum necessary.

I've been to London twice, Paris, Sydney, Melbourne, and NYC. I definitely need to go back to those places as there's so much stuff I missed. More Europe for sure.

I'd also like to see China/Hong Kong since my family's from there. I only know pre-school Cantonese and not a lick of Mandarin though.

Tokyo
New York City again someday, been there once and didn't get to do nearly as much as I may have wanted. It was my first trip alone, and out of the Southeast so I was a bit skittish.

Creepy as hell, but I would so love to visit the Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, Mexico.

I've been to Mount Rushmore and it was cool. The bad part is I got there the same week as the Sturgis, SD Biker Rally, motorcycles everywhere. Plus driving about another hour NNW will take you to Devil's Tower Wyoming. I had wanted to see that ever since I first saw Close Encounters years ago and finally made it.

Devil's Tower was also part of our same family vacation that took us to Mt. Rushmore. Was really cool to see that in person as well.

I want to go traveling around Asia, I've been to Philippines, I mainly want to go to Singapore and South Korea, I almost booked tickets for either of them for late this year but glad I didn't because health issues would of stopped me going anyway.

Once I'm allowed to travel again, Me and my girlfriend will book Singapore.

I do the same thing - some places just won't leave my head until I visit them. Kathmandu is nice but you MUST go trekking in the Himalayas if you are there. One of the most beautiful places on earth. I did a walking safari on the border between India and Nepal as well as an elephant safari. Saw some rhinos, crocodiles, birds etc. Preferred the walking one I think. Tigers are very hard to come by - our guide had seen 2 or 3 in his career.
really wanted to do Nepal but decided I wanted to do a tiger safari more. it took 6 days of safaris but finally saw one in Ranthambore on the very last safari!

I wouldn't really call Hawaii and Italy starting small Bakersfield is starting small Where are you from?

I don't know if I'll get back to Europe in '17 but I'd love to. I think I might like to try Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic or UK next.
