Oh, I surely have bought me some shit, and lots of it. But the key thing is: they were cheap. Mostly. But at £200 then this dwarfs any one UHD purchase I've ever made and, I'll be honest, most of the movies in there don't appeal to me. With the Columbia Collection sets - which to start with cost almost half of what this does - the good has always outweighed the meh, and even the meh I'll give the time of day to. But this stuff? Nah.

I don't know if I'm gonna buy Columbia 3 again after sending the second damaged replacement back for a refund. Thought it was the weakest of them all, with It Happened One Night and Last Picture Show (the only ones I'd seen before) still pretty good but dropping slightly for me. There was nothing great in Volume 3 in my opinion. Would be awesome if someone would release the more entertaining Bogdanovich movie Paper Moon on 4K, which has only been on DVD in most of the world. Columbia 2 at least had that bonus disc of short films to make up for the few weaker movies.
I've only watched Lola, Tiger and Call Me. Agree that the price is high and would say a good number of the other Sony Pictures Classics movies I have seen (not in this set) are not that important. I'm taking a risk with this set. |

I'm taking a trip to the states next month so this will be mine. Really want CTHD, and with it already having a separate steelbook release, the chances seem slim it gets a standalone. Run Lola Run, City of Lost Children, Devil's Backbone are all movies I would buy separately. The rest, as much as I enjoy them, are more one and dones.

My set from Amazon just arrived pretty beat up, as expected. Shipped loose in a box too large with no padding.
I'll return this one and I have just reordered from Movies Unlimited. With the coupon code and my PayPal balance from random things I've sold, I ended up paying $122 shipped, so about $11 per film. Not bad. |

For some reason shipping isn't charged up front so I went for it, I wonder how much I'll get charged upon dispatch. Those caps of Run Lola Run were just too irresistible. Edit: Not shipping, I meant the usual 20% VAT charge Last edited by UpsetSmiley; 11-23-2022 at 04:44 AM. |
