Nothing terribly fancy here. Just notifications on when a title is either nearing or gone out of print.

For anyone that wants to know what's OOP as of January 2016, here's WTK's list.
https://fandompost.vbulletin.net/for...p-anime-thread (archive.org in event Fandom Post goes down.) Recent stuff that's been close to or gone OOP over the last 10 months for anyone that missed these so they can plan accordingly for the stuff that can still be found. Quote:

https://www.rightstufanime.com/Beaut...n-Blu-ray-2020 At the time he made that post (July 23rd), the 2020 re-release hadn't been solicited yet. It was solicited on July 30th. https://fandompost.vbulletin.net/for...-solicitations Also want to note the Elfen Lied SteelBook is listed as "No Longer Available" on RightStuf and "Currently Unavailable" on the Sentai Filmworks Shop. Expect another re-release which should be the final release after so many releases (Singles, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2019 complete sets). I'm very curious about what it's going to look like, what's Larry Koteff going to do for his 5th try? The singles were designed by Russell Etchen, the 2006 thinpak was designed by Victor Cormier, everything after has been Larry Koteff. It may be a surprise to people, but there isn't that much official artwork for the series (it wasn't very popular in Japan, at least in terms of disc sales, though the Blu-ray Box did much better than the old DVD singles), so that's one reason why I'm curious as to what's going to be done next time as I have my doubts of the Blu-ray Box illustration being used for the 3rd time in a row. Something else that went OOP this year is Mad Bull 34 (re-confirmed by Justin as recently as this month's Discotek Day livestream). Wonder if that'll get relicensed by Discotek in the future for SDBD or remain OOP. Discotek is essentially the end of the line, when they lose something that's basically it. Though Sentai did grab Locke the Superman and Venus Wars thanks to a Shochiku package deal they got. Last edited by BigOnAnime; 12-31-2020 at 12:12 PM. |

I don't like threads like this because it gives the lurkers an inking on to what is going oop and then the scalpers come out. It would be nice to have a private group where only approved members could see the info. Again just my thoughts.

I certainly appreciate your concern. That sort of thing is bound to happen regardless though. The point of this thread is simply to keep track of titles that are going OOP. It may even give one of us holding out on a specific title, that one last chance to pick it up before it’s just another overpriced release on eBay. |

The Hulu expiration dates matched when the license expired, the exceptions being Sound of the Sky (which Nozomi was allowed to renew) and Guilty Crown. Every single Aniplex title not held by Aniplex USA, Nozomi, or Sony is OOP (except Blood+ and Tekkonkinkreet). GKIDS still has Welcome to the Space Show, we'll see if Aniplex will allow a renewal or not. FUNimation also still has Black Butler: Book of Circus and Book of Murder, they'll likely be allowed to renew it in 2 years. It should be noted when WTK made that post, a few Aniplex titles from Sentai weren't streaming on Hulu, those being Guin Saga, Hell Girl S2&S3, La Corda d'Oro: Primo Passo, and Le Portrait de Petite Cosette. All of those have already expired as of a few years ago.Guilty Crown is currently not OOP AFAIK. It was supposed to expire this year, but it looks like because of Sony Pictures buying FUNimation, and FUNimation's new relationship with Aniplex USA, they were allowed to renew it. |

https://fandompost.vbulletin.net/for...e35#post718373 https://fandompost.vbulletin.net/for...e35#post732732 Heck, when Neon Genesis Evangelion of all things was announced to be going OOP, it took a good while to sell out. Took 4 months for the Holiday Edition to sell out, and it took nearly 2 years for the Platinum Thinpak to sell out. https://fandompost.vbulletin.net/for...ge6#post303166 https://fandompost.vbulletin.net/for...ge8#post358118 [Edit]I can't read dates, the Holiday Edition lasted nearly 1.5 years. ![]() A quick look at eBay and it's not selling. I wonder how many copies RightStuf is even able to get rid of per year. eX-Driver in general doesn't sell these days. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...&LH_Complete=1 https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...&LH_Complete=1 It can't be emphasized enough how much Geneon overestimated the demand. You will never have trouble finding a copy of the movie. RightStuf did finally sell out of the soundtrack a few years ago though. There are a good number of titles that even when OOP struggle to sell because of the number of copies as well as how many people even know of their existence. Like, how many people hear have even heard of eX-Driver, much less bought the OVA series and/or movie? Heck, I recently bought Tayutama which went OOP quite a while ago. I got it for $25 used on eBay through the ONLY auction that was up, and said auction had been up since September, and it sat there for 3 months until I came across it and pulled the lever. |
