Dude, if you think the audio from the DVD of Godzilla sounds good, just wait to you "experience" the lossless
DTS-HD Master Audio track on the Blu-ray edition.

Totally awesome!!!

Seriously, you need to throw away that DVD and upgrade to the Blu-ray version.
The difference is like night and day, in comparing the audio quality.

Some of my favorites:

BAND OF BROTHERS - What I find particularly spectacular is how nearly every episode has a battle sequence which is different from the one before, and so there's a completely different audio dynamic going on within each. One has them jumping out of airplanes, and the sounds of the engines, explosions and overall chaos is a BIG change from say, the part where tanks roll into the town square and start wreaking havoc. Fantastic sound design, above any level of television I've ever heard before.

RAMBO (2008) - This is a mega-beast when it comes to the beauty of a smartly designed 7.1 soundstage. I love everything about this movie. Even the sound of the rain and little ambient noises near the end of the movie during the "night mission" just makes me want to salivate. Then when Big Bertha explodes, it's just a massive assault of the audio senses, from the deep rumble of the bass all the way to the cracking of tree branches and debris flying through the air. And then, of course the final jeep-mounted .50cal sequence in the end. OMG.
It's too bad it wasn't even nominated for best sound design.

THE HURT LOCKER - I was blown away (haha) by how ominous the lower registers were. I was not expecting this movie to be even HALF as aggressive as it was. Give those subs a workout!

THE AVENGERS - What I love most about this movie's sound is not how it's always active, and uncannily orientated between channel. For example when Fury is talking about going to "Phase 2" with his bosses on a VTC, the camera is spinning around him in a circle and the whole time the dialogue from the council members shifts seamlessly across the speaker channels.
That's all impressive, but what I most appreciate is how well balanced everything is. The volume levels soar to high heights, yet the movie itself never gets so quiet that I have to turn it UP, only needing to turn it DOWN once the action kicks in. This is such a balanced movie, I can't get over how "clean" everything is, like it's properly equalized from beginning to end.

FIGHT CLUB - David Fincher has an uncanny talent for the little details in his movies that you might miss on initial viewings. Watching FIGHT CLUB was like hearing the nuances one misses from the movie itself after the bluray lossless audio release. While not perfect, it is chock-full of great ambient noise, never overstaying its welcome and only kicking in to overdrive during a few key scenes. Of particular note is when "Jack" and Tyler are gathering fat for soap production, and they're in a back alley. Everything they say bounces off the brick walls in a perfect "I'm-there-right-now" reverberating echo. Little touches like that can improve the immersive power of movie watching.

Knowing has a fantastic lossless audio soundtrack.

Watched Knowing just a few days ago for the first time, it does sound impressive. Not only in terms of pure bass and volume during action sequences but also in the sound design (the whispers truly sound eerie with the excellent surround placement).

I just bought this last night and watched a little bit of it and holy shit the sound on this kicks ass. I had to keep turning my receiver down below the norm.

The sound for the opening credits to Fight Club is bombastic. The menu is kinda tricky though. At first, I though 20th Century Fox, had packaged the wrong movie into the wrong case.

Yeah If I hadn't done research on this I probably would have thrown a little fit but I knew about it ahead of time. Still very clever though.

I got my system a week or so ago and it has totally changed how I think of watching movies and stuff at home. I feel like I have never properly watched TV, watched a movie, or played a game at home. What are some other great audio on really recent releases? Heck, is there a handful of titles that most consider the best demo material?
