Probably not worth waiting this time around. Too risky.

The fuzzy stair stepping on the German Last Exile BDs is horrible but is almost unnoticeable with the sharpness on minimum setting.
Honestly a CRT isn't the worst idea for cases like this either. I've done that before.

Peach Girl you probably won't have very much difficulty finding in the future along with most other shows FUNimation had originally released in singles, though they changed the disc count on the Viridian Collection release and the S.A.V.E. release reused those discs. The singles discs probably had the alternate angles as they were released in 2007.

Looks like den-noh coil finally sold out. At 4 bucks I would've been sad that it didn't. As much as I would've liked to have bought 25 copies to sell, I'm glad they put a limit of 3 so that there would be more time for more people to grab a copy. 4 bucks is insane clearance price.

Den-noh Coil Complete Collection Blu-ray listing has been removed from TRSI. Listing removed from Sentai. There are 7 copies remaining via Amazon (for now).

CRUNCHYMATION - OUT OF PRINT

You may or may not have heard the rumors, but it is true the Crunchymation is quietly allowing some of their older catalog releases, especially Essentials and S.A.V.E editions, to fall out of print. Just this past week the Nichijou Essentials BD sold out of our stock and we found out we can no longer order more copies. I have a couple of ideas about what is behind this, and it doesn't seem to be about license expirations or re-releasing older Funimation titles with Crunchyroll box art. I'll have more on that in a future newsletter, along with lists of titles that look like they won't be available for much longer.

Sony is probably going to make a bigger push for streaming.

Geez. That sucks. Is there a list of essentials / SAVE titles somewhere?
Particularly sad to lose "Nichijou," which isn't even available from Amazon, except from third party scalpers... um, I mean sellers.

Although it is region B locked, the UK Nichijou LE is very nice, especially considering it never got a limited edition in the US.

Thanks, bigzgod, but I've already got several copies of Nichijou (the original combo, and "essentials" set) so I wasn't worried for myself, just hate to see the series go OOP.

"Scalpers" often have items available for less than Amazon sells them.
Also in case you didn't know, Amazon just buys things to sell too...it's not like they're producing the anime you're buying. They are merely the entity selling it to you.
Also how do you know these people didn't buy a large shipment a year ago? As long as an item is still in print they aren't doing any harm. In fact by placing orders for the anime it increases the odds of funi/sentai/etc doing another run when their current run sells out (because sales are a sign of demand, just like lack of sales shows a lack of demand).
Sad to see so many people with a childish view of these things.

Less re-releases for sure. I'm guessing we'll get initial release and that's it going forward. If the title is big enough then they'll put out a collector's edition like the DB Super Steelbook set or YYH 30th Anniversary.

Oh, cry me a river.

As soon as an anime goes OOP on Amazon it's almost ALWAYS immediately marked up by third party scalpers and put up for sale. Go look some of the sold out "essentials" discs if you don't believe me.

The obsession with streaming is certainly going to hurt the physical media offerings. Newer shows really do sell better, and even though there is money to be made from less-popular/older anime they may just figure they can make that same amount of money keeping it as a streaming-only title.
This also makes sense as a way to prepare for the upcoming (current?) recession. They don't want to spend the next couple years dealing with an inventory surplus. Selling through their inventory and being choosy about future releases is probably what we can expect.

I have been slacking off. Lodoss War, Den-noh Coil, and Nichijou could interest me.
Don't want a repeat of what we've seen from Yamato 2199.
