I agree, the first battle scene in Master and Commander was pretty awesome. I enjoy listening to the scene in Cars when the Mac truck falls asleep and the neon cars push the truck around (great LFE). I also like the opera scene in The Fifth Element; the opening scene in Youth without Youth (from the opening time clocks to when the dude is electrocuted), and the lobby scene in The Matrix. Also, pretty much all of Kung Fu Panda and Cloverfield kicked some audio major a$$.

There are so many Blu-ray movies with awesome lossless audio...that is a big part of what's so cool about Blu.

the maelstrom scene (final battle) in Pirates 3 was pretty intense. Transformers, Iron Man, and the Incredible Hulk all have incredible audio too

In THE ORPHANAGE when the mother is in the room being haunted by the sounds of the spirits. This is extremely immersive and the sound has such clarity and you hear distinct images coming from all speakers.

All of these are definitely good choices. I'm surprised though that no one's said Hellboy 2 yet. In the Troll Market when Hellboy is fighting Mr. Wink, there is great use of the soundfield.

Same with Incredible Hulk when he's fighting the Abomination- he's swinging a chain around and it hits ALL the speakers.

The opening credits to Wild Things is the most highly underestimated piece of audio recording on this whole site.

Set it up for PCM sound and sit back and enjoy.
The seperation is jaw dropping.

Live Free or Die Hard - nearly the whole movie, especially the sweep in the tunnel

The machine guns attached to the transformers arms in the final street scene!

My audio reference scene is the bean scene with the drums in House of Flying Daggers. When I watch that movie, I choose the Chinese PCM audio track and put on the english subtitles.

That one scene definitely makes use of all of my 5.1 setup. Too bad Sony did not make the PQ reference quality.

The Matrix movies are also very well done. As someone mentioned earlier, the lobby scene in the first movie was spectacular.

The first several minutes in Resident Evil Extinction is pretty awesome when the clone is trying to make it through the hospital.

One of the best movies to see what can be done with older films if they do a good job on the re-mastering is The Lost Boys. That movie does not sound 20 years old at all.

U-571 - all the depth charges

Die Another Day - the opening sequences with the hovercrafts, but especially at the beginning of the sequence when the bad guy shoots at and blows up a helicopter

The missile launch in Disney's Roving Mars. Crank up the volume a bit first.

Ratatouille - about half way through the movie, a minute or so of a nice french song.
