from my collection i'd say crank looked great, kingdom of heavon obviously is awesome, but corpse bride i'd say is the best. Although it doesn't have too many bright scenes because of the nature of the movie, i couldn't pick out a single flaw in the BD (no compression artifacts, great detail, no noise)..it's flawless.

the worst: lethal weapon 2. i whined about this one in another thread...i want to return this movie, the standard DVD looks better.

Ant Bully is the best I've seen yet. The colors were fantastic. Mission Impossible III looks great as well. Ice Age 2 and Black Hawk Down are worth checking out. Haven't seen Crank or Corpse Bride yet.

Thanks for the responses so far. I already own black hawk down and while it looks good its not stunning. In some way I wish I'd gotten a 1080p projector instead of 720p as this is surely part of my state of "almost totally impressed". I'll buy Crank and Kingdom of Heaven for demos, not my favorite films but I want BD to win and the way to do that is "vote with your dollar".

I liked House of Flying Daggers. It has beautiful backgrounds and sounds pretty awesome in certain scenes. Just that alone is what got me thru the plot. Surprised nobodys mentioned this one.

Default The Searchers

Although I'm not a big fan of the movie, I bought THE SEARCHERS, a 1956 John Wayne film which has video that just jumps off the screen.

This title has recently been remastered so it is sharp as a tack and the colors are just amazing.

I use THE SEARCHERS as a demo disc just to show people not familiar with HD that if a 50-year old film can look this good, imagine how a recent film transfer could look!

Monster House really is the best I have seen thus far. I own Corpse Bride as well, and have seen a dozen of others but Monster House really has the best video and sound I have seen.

Hands Down....CRANK !!!!!

My library has grown since purchasing the PS3 last month, over 20 titles, and I have to say most movies have dissapointed my eye.

However, Crank has finally shown me the power of Blu Ray.

Go buy it.

Crank
Gridiron Gang
Transporter 2
BHD
The Descent
KoH

Animation is far easier to do....there for it belongs below any of the the better looking film based movies.

Just saw Saw 3. It looked pretty good although not as good as Crank as there was intentional grain. (imo)

Do old movies benefit from BR?
How do Terminator 2 and Blazing Saddles look?

I'm asking because one of the greatest movies of all time, GLORY, is being released in February and I'm skeptical about the PQ on the older movies.

Terminator 2 could be better. Though I must say that 'The Terminator' from Sony/MGM looked pretty good.

Get (or rent from netflix) the searchers with John Wayne...

I played it side by side with the DVD... and toggled back and forth, the difference was JAW DROPPING

Granted, I am almost sure they did a restoration in conjunction with the transfer to BD, but it surely shows you that yes, old movies can benefit!

Open Season got a rare 5 star from Peter Bracke at HD Digest. This must be damn good for him to do that.

So far, the best quality I've seen is Enemy of the State. The worst I've seen is House of Flying Daggers. Others I've seen, ranking picture from best to worst is:
Black Hawk Down
Unforgiven
The Last Waltz
The Fugitive

I've also seen a couple minutes of Goodfellas and it was roughly the same quality as Last Waltz. Next in the queue: Superman and Superman II.
