This looks like a really interesting device that bridges the gap between cell phones and tablets. I think we're going to see more of these devices.

That's a bit much. When will they stop? Soon, we'll have phones, phablets, tablets and laptops

I truly think this has potential and yeah, it's a bit larger, but not uncomfortably so IMO. I haven't personally seen it yet, but since I'm in the market for a new phone, and am considering a tablet, this is one device I want to have a serious look at. |

After looking at the BB Playbook, I realized how small 7'' is for a screen (but it was BEAUTIFUL and SHARP). So this MIGHT be the thing simply because I no longer want the Galaxy SII. |

Of all the tablets I've seen in person, the BB Playbook has impressed me the most, but for it's price it's not something I could realistically consider. I love the 7" screen and the quality, inputs, HD1080p video is enticing though. I'd love to see a 10" Playbook fairly priced.... |

As a phone, I think it's a little much. Speaking as someone who does a good amount of texting, I'd hate to keep dragging it out of my bag or pocket to respond. I currently have a phone, tablet, and laptop. I got the tablet because my laptop is dying and I plan on getting a desktop to replace it. A tablet will be easier to bring with me for basic browsing and email than a new laptop would.
Some people will like them though. Good to see an option for those who only want one device. |

Ok, I'll bite.
I was going back and forth between the Note and Galaxy Nexus for a while. The Nexus got the nod. Why? Android 4.0. But do we define the Note as a macro-phone or micro-pad? It's both, and neither. ![]() When I see both in the flesh I am certain the Nexus will win me over. I have been reading and watching video on the Nexus for weeks now. The more I see of it, the more I get the feeling this is a show-case model for what is the come. C'mon, how can you NOT use Gorilla Glass on a phone in this day and age? That may be the deal breaker for me. In short, I'm impressed but no longer wowed. Even Ice Cream Sandwhiches become boring after a while. I'm waiting for 4.1 already. No smartphone or tablet for me unless it comes with Android 4.x, or better... WITH Gorilla Glass. As for 'phablet' devices, there has to be a limit. The Note took big a little too far. A 5" long phone could still contain a 4.75 screen. A very usable and comfortable maximum for any fan of larger screens. Couple that with a nice AMOLED screen with a higher resolution of say, 1280 x 768, or 1280 x 800 for some rocking DPI. Let's save the coveted 1920 x 1080 screens for the quad core phones. ![]() ![]() |

I finally had a chance to see this phone and actually play with it for about a half an hour. I came away from the experience duly impressed, but I want to check it a bit more before I bite. A guy at work just bought one and I'm hoping to run into him tomorrow or the next day so I can get some real world experience on it. Although the phone is big (no question about it) I had no problem handling it, which initially was a big concern.
I loved everything else about this phone. The Annotation feature is fabulous, Gorilla Glass, 5.3" Super HD Amoled screen (1280x800), 8MP Rear/2MP Front Cameras, Full 1080p HD record/playback,4G LTE, 1.4Ghz Dual Processor, and list goes on. I am a little disappointed that it comes with Gingerbread and not IceCreamSandwich, but I would think an upgrade isn't far behind. Right now this phone is the frontrunner for an upgrade later this year (maybe sooner, as I want one real bad). Bye, bye iPhone 3G...won't miss ya at all! http://www.samsung.com/global/micros...html?type=find |

Thought I'd revive this thread since I picked up a NOTE on Friday!
![]() Unfortunately, things went quickly downhill. ![]() I had the phone charging via USB/PC and noticed the battery was extremely hot. So much so that I almost couldn't hold it. Anyway, I go to make a call and discover I have no service. Ok, maybe there's an outtage of some sort, so I waited. An hour later still no service. Then the main screen indicated that my SIM card is UNREGISTERED. WTF? I call Bell and I explain what happened and we try different things. In the end, we come to the conclusion that the battery likely fried the SIM card and to get a new one. I wasn't gonna do that and said I wanted a new phone, new battery, new SIM card. She agreed and said if I had any issues at the store to call (all info is on file). Luckily there were no issues and I got a new phone today. Here's hoping this is the last of it! ![]() PS: Other than that....I LOVE this thing! |

Does your Note have ICS yet? There is a rumored Note 2 with a 1680x1050 screen. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsu...ctober_id30894 |

What is ICS? I'm a real phone-noob! I'd heard about a possible Note II, but I didn't want to wait that long and this phone does everything I want it to do. I'm even getting interested in using it more for Apps and browsing, and possible using my DD codes for movies. I never ever woulda thunk it! |

Thanks xtop! I really should have figured that out!
![]() Do you think the Note will be able to have ICS installed? Hi Eric - No issues at all! I guess I just got a lemon the first time. Played with the S Memo feature all day yesterday inputting my work data, and I'm pretty used to the keyboard now in both Landscape and Portrait mode. I did find I was quicker without the predictive text feature, so I turned it off. I'm really impressed with the quality of the screen. |
