Given that it's a Changeling threat, I'd love them to somehow send up the Bat-signal for the Emissary. The guy with most experience in giving them their beat downs previously.

Sadly I don't see any way they're getting Avery back though so Sisko will forever remain with the Prophets I guess......

I was wondering to myself

[Show spoiler]how might they have been replacing all these high ranking starfleet officers without anyone finding the bodies then it hit me, the transporter.

Last week when Seven revealed that the Changeling had been masquerading as a transporter technician the response was 'he could be anyone, why a transporter operator' and then this week when the Intrepid arrived they were informed that a team would be coming over via shuttle craft which instantly threw up reactions from the bridge crew, Ro then later said she had purposely been avoiding using the transporters and that there had been incidents throughout the fleet.

What I think is happening is that the Changelings are using the transporters to do away with certain officers and then beaming a Changeling in their place without anyone being any the wiser, might seem like a bottom of the run position but they literally have the power of life and death in their hands, if one had a bad day he could instantly transport the entire crew into space without any warning and if you wanted to get rid of certain people there is no better method as you just dematerilise them then simply delete the pattern from the buffer, no mess to clear up but a few button presses.

What if the Changelings are using the Transporters to infect targeted personnel with Changeling bio-matter, which allows them to take over their bodies? Imagine a mass suicide attack on Federation Day, with compromised officers on each ship!

That was the other option I was considering, this so called

The Changeling autopsy, the one that led Beverly discovering there had been an evolution, was the one that took the form of LaForge. It didn’t take over her body, consume cells or whatever. The question for me is if this evolution was entirely natural or a deliberate genetic modification, a joining of forces with another species to gain a tactical advantage. That modification being mixing other DNA with theirs. What that other species might be is up for debate but so far possible candidates could be Species 8472, the Conspiracy parasites, or even Pah-Wraiths.

I’m leaning more toward the idea that these aren’t genetically altered changelings which are more human but genetically modified humans with changeling abilities. Jack Crusher seems to be the real person but that he’s somehow been infected. But at the same time LaForge wasn’t infected the hybrids can still morph form. If they’re genetically modified humanoids it also means they’re not necessarily Dominion and that anybody could be behind this and they’ve just weaponised the species abilities.

Based on what Worf learned from Odo I think we have to assume they are Changelings. And the evolutionary changes happened after they left the Great Link.

In her 50s. Even if a bit older than that probably not a big deal given the healthcare advances in the future. Patrick Stewart was late 40s when he started playing Picard, who was supposed to be around 60. So a son played by someone who looks older fits the mould.

DS9 established that the Founders were masters of genetic engineering. They engineered the Vorta from simple primates, created the Jem'Hadar, and viruses that even Bashir was unable to cure. Turning that knowledge to enhance themselves is logical.

[Show spoiler]Jack has been infected with the prototype of a genetically engineered virus that somehow links those infected to a form of the great link and once connected they become puppets and this splinter cell of Changelings will use this to turn vast numbers of regular people into weapons to do what we saw Jack do in his hallucination at the start of episode 5, after all they certainly wouldn’t have the numbers to replace every single member of starfleet but want to bring it all down. Them getting their ultimate revenge by using a virus would be poetic justice after Section 31 infected the great link with a virus to attempt genocide prior to the Dominion War even starting.

Jack has been referred to as the Asset by the Changeling so that suggests he is of a particular and specific benefit to them in some way. I’m also curious if the nightmares Jack had as a kid that Beverly mentioned are somehow related to what’s happening now, something that’s been laying dormant. But could also just random kid nightmares.

I'm not going to spoil anything, but I will tell you that Geordi's current post is that of the Starfleet Museum, where a variety of important or notable ships are kept on display for the public to visit and take-in.

If you're at all familiar with Star Trek, you know that hardly anything ever happens at random. Even if it takes a while to be revealed, there's usually some purpose behind each event.
