As such, the first 5 minutes, and the reveal completely killed it for me.
[Show spoiler]There was a time where this would have worked, and I totally get why they've gone with them, but I am 100% completely, totally, sick of the sight of them. Even just in Picard itself, they've literally been in EVERY season.

The "Fleet formation" thing, like WTF? Who thought that was a good idea?!

There were some lovely touches towards the end of the episode, but even then I was still too p*ssed off by what had come before to fully appreciate it.

And killing off
[Show spoiler]Shaw
just seemed completely anti-climactic to me.

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, and for all those that enjoyed the episode, I'm really happy for you. For me though, it was a disappointment. Given the theorizing that had gone on over the past few weeks I'm not entirely sure I'd have been happy whatever the reveal had been, I just know that on the ladder of preferred outcomes, this would have been near the bottom for me.

Oh well.

Exactly where I stand

I'm surprised at some of the reaction towards
[Show spoiler] the Borg, it's not like they've been seen in a long time or overused to death. It felt like a very plausible thing w/ Jack/Picard and all.
, After this episode ended I was expecting to see everyone in agreement on how good this one was.

Man, S3 has been such a different beast than S1 and S2. Sure the nostalgia is turned to 11, but I’m here for it.
[Show spoiler]The crew walking on to Enterprise-D??
My younger self was giddy with excitement.

I haven’t seen anything for E10, but I’m guessing the
[Show spoiler]Borg Queen will still be Juarti
?

The
[Show spoiler]borg were LITERALLY the Villian of season 2. They actually resolved the queen in that season. This makes absolutely NO sense. But I did like the idea of how they assimilated starfleet through the transporters. Amazing writing there

Someone actually
[Show spoiler]found the light switch on the D... How insane how much better that set looked than every dark pile of shit episode of new trek combined.

I don't understand the darker lighting at all. Half the show I could barely see anything. (Same as Discovery and all the others).

We all knew the D was in hanger 12 but hot damn it was amazing. And Worf destroying the E is absolutely hilarious. Loved that bit.

Also Shelby deserved no better fate. Eat phasers you Riker hating twit. (I never liked Shelby but the actress did a fantastic job).

I am bummed Garak and Bashir didn't show up to command the defiant and Seven and Tuvok etc didn't take the Voyager. They could have had a much bigger reaction there.

I think the villain reveal works not so much because of who they are but by answering two really longstanding questions we had
[Show spoiler]if the Borg are primarily an organic species who are then augmented by technology and what Locutus’s role was.
Now we know.

‘Star Trek: Picard’ Star Gates McFadden on the ‘Visceral’ Experience of Seeing [SPOILER] Again and Dr. Crusher’s Controversial Decision

How closely did they
[Show spoiler]recreate the original “TNG” bridge?

[Whispers] Very. Very. Amazing.
[Show spoiler]They had the same stuff, things that you’d be reading that would be from the show. [“TNG” graphic designer] Michael Okuda helped them with all those little details. He’s such a genius. He and his wife Denise just figured all of those things out.

Was there any reason they didn't bring back Wesley Crusher? or may he still show up in the finale? Beverly has mentioned him a couple times.

Yeah so
[Show spoiler]the Borg, but if there was any initial dissapointment at seeing their reveal, in a somewhat foreboding shot to be honest, it evaporated pretty quickly. Jesus christ, that moment on the bridge when everyone starts to turn, was perhaps Trek at its most hair-raising, and imagine not wanting to set phasers to kill whereas your adversaries, who moments ago were your allies, have no such qualms. Big kudos to the guy in this thread who circa 7 episodes said the transporters might play a big part. And the final moments, rumoured to happen quite a few episodes back, were nevertheless phenomenally resonating. And Shaw pretty much foreshadowed the Borg's return in episode 2 or 3 where he said the Borg are still out there.

One thing's a bit unclear, Picard or Seven saying
[Show spoiler]Borg hadn't been heard of in 10 years, but season 1 and 2 had Borg related plotlines, season 2 even had a sort of Borg Queen.
So why the shock?

If I have one caveat, it is what it'll mean for the final episode.
[Show spoiler]One outdated starship against an assimilated Starfleet and borg vessels? We need a plan says Data to Geordi, but what's the plan?
So on the one hand, next week's episode can't arrive sooner, but on the other hand, I fear a sort of deus ex machina solution (Jack coming in to save the day) or perhaps some virus being uploaded thus resetting the entire situation with the flick of a proverbial switch. I hope to be wrong, but all out battle is clearly not on the cards, so I'm worried the resolution might be anti-climactic.

But for now, this episode was top 10 Trek material.

No they didn’t. Jurati Queen did not replace the existing Borg.

Didn't he become a powerful Q-like entity when he left with The Traveler during the TNG Series? That's the last i remember seeing him

[Show spoiler]Season 2 Borg Queen was from an alternate timeline where the Borg had been wiped out. The other season 2 Borg we saw in the prime timeline were all Jurati's collective stemming from her joining with the alternate timeline Queen.

These Borg are clearly supposed to be the main ones that Future Janeway decimated. The clues would be them being behind a transwarp conduit, the Queen being voiced by Alice Krige as she was the last Queen we saw of the original Borg, and the complex being a a bit derelict looking. They've been licking their wounds, getting the Changelings to do their dirty work and awaiting Jack by the look of it. The 2nd Alice Krige Queen clearly survived the Pathogen from Voyager's finale somehow and has modified herself. Maybe we'll see more next week...

I hope the Changelings don't get forgotten about in all this. It's an interesting alliance, what with their Great Link background and the plot being...this.
