Why else do you think they're remaking The Thing again?
They'll need more than 5 million to do The Thing. Thing needs a special effects budget.

They should give us a remake every 3 years. And move the release date up week by week until we get one by Halloween.

What I love about the 2006 remake is that it almost exists for fans who wanted answers from the original. Who are Billy and Agnes? Well here you go. Was canon since Bob Clark was still involved.

I think the 2006 remake is fun. Trash fun but fun. And the ladies are all great to look at.

The new one is cringeworthy. Until the point they
[Show spoiler]manage to escape the house and get into the car
it was weak but watchable, but when you get to the final twist, it's really embarrassing.

Practical effects budget, you mean?

Still, it can't be any worse than this.

Little bit of both digital and practical (digital in the more enhance and not completely replace phase), but yeah, more on the practical this go around.

For myself, much like Zombie's Halloween, it was a little too much information. Part of what made the original so scary was what we didn't know and what we couldn't see. You could piece together somewhat already what Billy's backstory was in the original, it was minimal and without relying on the clichés of slasher tropes felt believable.

I would be fine with a few more clues but not the whole story played out before my eyes. I wish Blumhouse had split the difference between the two versions of the film. Maybe give us an ending like the original film but open it through that to a franchise.

Skip to 8:00, there's a scene where the lead character literally explains everything that happened in the movie (recapping) because apparently the target audience might be too dumb to remember.

It's hilarious.

That's Imogen Poots btw, who is a perfectly fine actress in numerous British films. Nothing and no one can save a terrible script, that's how it has always been with cinema.

To be fair loads of movies have needless expository scenes that just recap everything that has happened.

Do people actually spend 24 minutes watching YouTube reviews when they could be spending that time on an actual movie or TV show? That's insane.

It gets worse with the PG-13 editing: at one point, one of the killers enter the girl's house, then it literally cuts OUTSIDE the house (!), then it cuts back to his bloodless corpse on the ground. That's where his obvious stabbing scene is supposed to be.

So yeah, Sophia Takal is clearly lying when she said this movie was never R. It even says it on the IMDb page for the movie. The writer even admitted it was edited down to chase those extra dollars which never happened.
