We can only hope that this wont last till and through October. No matter what the scale of the aftermath is, this will get released no matter what just as long as this virus ends before October! We just need to survive and our reward will be this movie in 4K

I hope they release the details on Friday that way we can see which version we want ahead of time instead of only finding out when the preorder goes up and risk missing out

It's amazing how much things changed in just a couple of weeks in the UK, or the world in general.
Entirely the right call to put off pre-orders for now.

The Complete Cut from XT is identical to the Extended Mall Cut. They just added German audio.

Oh God...

I know this is perfectly reasonable given what’s going on, but this release has become a nightmare.

I cannot speak for others, but I fully intend to pre-order both.

I only own a blu-ray player at the moment and want to watch it when it is released. I do, however, also intend to upgrade to UHD BD and get a new TV down the road, most likely when the PS5 is released (which supposedly includes a UHD BD drive), and I am able to afford one and/ or get my hands on one (as it is supposed to come out in December, they might be in shortage for the first few months). Hence why I also want to UHD BD box, just in case.

Flipping it is not something that has entered my mind. And it's not that I am particularly wealthy either. On the contrary, in fact. But I have planned for it and set aside a bit of money each month, ever since Second Sight first announced it, so depending on how much they end up charging, I should be more or less covered, or at least not completely broke when I have paid for the pre-orders.

The extras should be the same, so the only real decision to make is do you want BD or UHD.

if that's the only difference then it's an easy decision but if the packaging or extras are different it would be nice to know in advance since we likely won't have much time to get our orders in

there is a video on youtube "Dawn Of The Dead (1978) XT video collector Blu-ray" and the person says that compleet cut is blu ray quality with scenes added from vhs...not promising tbh.
I can tell you that with the dvd(dual layered)there is no quality difference trough the whole run of the movie...

That's bull. This guy obviously did not watch the disc before he made the video. The Extenden Mall Cut / Complete Cut is entirely in Full HD. It combines the Japanese HD master of the Cannes cut with the older 2k master of the Argento Cut. The quality is not great but completely watchable and you won't even notice that it is combined from different sources in most scenes.

I wouldn't be expecting this release anytime soon nor many other films scheduled to come out in the next 6 months, a lot of things will get pushed back.

Oh don’t you worry, it will.

By the time winter comes around, c-19 will either be coming back full force to hit everyone again for flu season, or it will mutate.

Same packaging for both, same extras and added tat for both. The goal is to replicate the same overall package across both versions, not to penalise anyone for choosing one or the other. For people who want both the UHD and BD discs (like me) then it becomes a bit more awkward, but there are worse problems to be having right about now.

Would be neat if they offered a discount for those who would like both formats. Or make a combo pack a website exclusive, but we'll wait and see what the sets cost first.

Maybe pushed back even more! I was speaking with a mate over the phone today who had been recently laid off with the other employees from the local cinema complex and he said that the fears are the industry will take years to recover as the numbers will not come back to cinemas, due to big companies fully embracing digitally streamed releases to maximize their profits rather than hard copies or risk poor box office turnout as people still fear crowded enclosed places. The effects might last years!

The biggest worry will be, if in six months' time, when things get back to some semblance of normality and the wretched Covid virus mutates to start all over again. I don't expect that this release or other big titles to get released this year. There are much bigger fish to fry than some blu ray titles!

I think the best case scenario is after 3 weeks and if things are better they start allowing places to open up again. I say that about many businesses not just cinemas, I think a month is good enough, more than that and it really does become dangerous and for many they wont survive it. Everything going digital is happening anyway. That wont be stopped any time soon but I think people will still go to the cinema. What might hurt it is people not wanting to sit next to other people but I think would have been the case anyway at cinemas. Unfortunately that might be something that just stays with people forever now, people will have that fear of contact or being near others. I see people just now wearing the face masks and the gloves and they believe everything they're told on the TV about it and they're literally covered up in fear out buying a loaf of bread. I'm not saying they shouldn't of course but yeah......it's a psychological thing that for many people they just wont go back from.
