Is the fact that no Shame and Passion Of Ana on Volume 4 because we think Criterion has them here ?

Those were released by Twentieth Century Fox not Tartan. The Tartan titles are the ones that are in the 4 sets.

MGM, not Fox.

As well as Shame and The Passion of Anna, Hour of the Wolf and The Serpent's Egg are also with MGM - the latter available through Arrow.

Criterion UK may eventually port Shame over here. The other two films have yet to be released separately from the boxset.

At least in the US, The Serpent's Egg is the only one of those still with MGM. The other three are now with Janus Films (licensed from Svensk Filmindustri.)

Can’t comment on the encodes, still on my “to watch” backlog, but v3 includes a SD-only version of THE RITE.
