Thanks guys. Honestly I couldn’t really afford an OLED because I had just bought a house and I got a Samsung 65 inch MU8000 for the living room and I just said screw it maybe next year, but when I can across this I just jumped on it. Funny part was the back of the tv when I got home had the BestBuy display price sticker printer on April 27 and the price was $1407. And a week later I happen to walk in when they went to $849. Right place at the right time

Even with 3000 hours on it, $849 is still a steal!

Planning to get a new panel around February 2019. 55" is plenty for the room size.

I'm thinking of getting an OLED, maybe the LG B8 model...

My TV works fine but I'm really not happy with the overall black levels, they're milky grey.

I know the feeling, thankfully my set has FALD so the black levels are great but the VA panel makes even slight off center viewing start to desaturate the image and the upscaling for any resolution below 1080p is less than desirable (though firmware updates have improved it quite a bit since I first got the panel). I'm still a ways off from getting an OLED though sadly as my car died earlier this year unexpectedly and replacing that ate through my savings and left me with extra bills for the foreseeable future. Maybe next years models or the 2020 will be when I can finally pull the trigger on this technology.

Why don't you apply for a credit card and then just make small monthly payments on it once you buy an LG Oled?

You can get deals for 12 or 24 months no interest.

When I was younger and made a lot less, I wore out my BBuy card and 18 month no interest deals.

Interests don't kick in for at least a year.
Just a matter of making smaller sacrifices elsewhere: don't dine out as often, don't buy new clothes or shoes for a while, etc.

One time I did something similar and unfortunately it didn't work out for me.

After C6 went out of production, I spotted a display unit on clearance at BB.

It was a 55" set and I was going to put it in the mancave as a backup 3D set.

But the many hours of showing a Demo Loop had taken their toll: major burn-in.

I remember testing the OLED with The Great Wall 3D, which I had just got.

The opening of the movie is rolling sand dunes and the burn-in image was visible.

The shadow of the burn-in Demo Loop colored the yellow sands to soft pink.

Once you see the shadow image, it's really hard to un-see it. I had to take it back.

Someone reported something similar in Unforgiven 4K thread.

The end of the movie is so dark, the TV registers it as a static image and auto-dims.

At least that's the theory... there's some talk in that thread about defeating auto-dim.

But there's no way I'm turning off that feature, because sometimes the phone rings and I don't want burn-in due to full bright image being there the whole time.

Already doing that to keep up rent, insurance, car payments, and all the costs it takes to raise a child with medical issues so putting on an extra bill right now is stretching things thinner than I can comfortably afford right now. I also like the satisfaction of saving up and paying for something in full, wish I could've done that with my car. It's all good, I'm patient enough to wait, it gives me a chance to see what extra features the future holds.

Car notes suck. I was the type that got a new one every 3 years, but as I got older I lost interest. Our current cars are in excellent shape and have been paid off for 4 and 5 years LOL. Everytime I start thinking of a new one and look at pricing, I go back to looking at tv's!

My friends are like "how do you get a tv every year". I have two $$ hobbies, I like electronics and do football season tickets. These guys own boats, multiple car payments, hunting camps, etc... And they think I over spend lol.

Long story short, it is all about priorities, and you have to take care of personal stuff before you can play. Being an adult sucks sometimes.

Nothing wrong with waiting, you will save in the long term When the C7 came out in March of last year it was $3500 for the 55". My brother was looking at finally getting a new television but decided to wait because the Spring is the worst time to get a new TV since the new models are at their most expensive. He waited six months and then bought it in November last year from Best Buy for $1700, over half the price that it was just earlier in the year. I noticed the C8 is out now and LG brought it out at $2500 so my guess is it will be around $1200-$1400 sometime in November.

I have a Panasonic plasma, 10 years old this year, it works great but I would like to experience 4K but since I am planning on moving I may way it out for another year or so myself.

Was that 55" E7 a new in the box one or open box? Either way I think you did quite well for yourself. ;-)

What does everyone have their OLED light set on for both HDR and DV? I have mine around 25 for HDR and 50 for DV.

Just curious what everyone is using.
