^^Well you can't miss what you don't want Vilya. I totally get it. I've given up on keeping up with shows and watch whatever has dropped on Netflix. I've been on a classic Match Game kick on Prime lately. With me temporarily dropping my BD plan I'm going to play catch up on some of the movies in my que in my free time. Which is getting shorter and shorter the closer it gets to moving.

I feel your pain. I have both cable and internet through Xfinity and I tried to get rid of cable a couple of months ago. They said cool and that my internet would now be $40 higher since I was getting rid of the bundle. By the time I added in a cable alternative the price would have been almost as much as keeping cable, so I did. Greedy punks!

And since the only other internet option where I live is DSL, it looks like Xfinity has me right where they want me.

I sure hope my provider, Mediacom, doesn't start that crap. They often try to get me to add cable TV and VOIP phone, but all such bundles would nearly double what I am paying now while adding nothing I want.

Ironically, when I have to call tech support about one of their frequent internet outages, the technician tries to up sell me at the end of the call. I have told them many times that I am not very receptive to adding more services when the one I already have is not working. They just don't get it.

On a side note, my internet has worked for two consecutive days! Wonders never cease.

I have Spectrum, which is $49 a month for 100+ MBPS internet. Only issue I have is if there is a power outage it won't automatically turn back on and I have to go unplug and swap the cable plug the opposite direction to get a down signal again. I have no idea why, it'll show connected but I can't get anything to load without doing a switch-a-roo.

Very odd.

Nice avatar change there, too!

I have such a very long list of things to watch just from my existing collection and it only gets longer when I buy 33 titles in a single month. With 4K UHD, I also have several titles to rewatch, so that I may say "ooh" and "ah" over the improvements.

Even with my being retired, I find there is not enough time in a day to play with my toys as much as I would like. Someone needs to invent a longer day.

Glad your internet issues seems to be resolved. Since you didn't have a bundle to begin with I don't think they would try to jack up your prices. At least I hope not.

It's the same here in the UK. Years ago, I'm fairly certain there was a rule where channels had a limit of 3 minutes for each commercial break. That certainly doesn't apply now for sure.

I wish mine was $49! As part of the bundle I pay $80 a month for those speeds. But I do generally get 125 mbps down when I run speedtest and that is over wifi, so I can't complain too much.

That is an odd issue. Are you using the ISP's modem or did you purchase your own?

I get decent up and down speeds, I use my 5 Ghz connection in the basement and first level to get maximum speed across multiple devices. Everything else is on the standard 2.4 connection. I wish PS4 would recognize 5ghz connections, but alas...

My own modem and separate router. I boost my signal up three floors and am running too many devices to use the regular one they give you. It's never been a problem when I had WideOpenWest or TWC before they became Spectrum. I dunno why it's so testy with Spectrum. Thankfully the power doesn't go out often so it's a random issue.

I'm gonna go off topic to report that my Hong Kong import of Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets 3D edition arrived safe and sound. It is a Region A edition. It took 17 days to arrive, which is much better than the 30 days many people waited for this import. I just love being able to buy movies from anywhere on this planet. It makes putting up with dodgy internet service worth it.

I have heard that the movie is so-so, but that in 3D it is pretty amazing to behold. My viewing list just grew again.

I watched it for free on Amazon Prime and can say I'm glad that I didn't pay for it. The two leads were god awful. I also found most of the VFX to look like something out of No Man's Sky but with a lot of glitter/twilight effects thrown on top.

I miss the old Luc. He can't make movies anymore.

Definitely sounds like it is the ISP then.

I couldn't get through Valerian. Granted I watched it later at night, but I kept dozing off and finally just turned it off. I may revisit it though just to give it a fair chance.

That's a discouraging review, but it confirms what I have already heard about the lead actors. The male lead was supposedly really, really bad.

Visually, though, I have read that this movie is quite the eye candy, especially in 3 Delicious D. Thus, I paid the absurd price of $37 to import it. There better be some truly tasty eye candy at that price!

I really love The Big Blue, but I only own it on DVD. I must import a blu-ray of it soon. There's always more to buy.

The lead, Dane DeHaan, is doing his worst Keanu Reeves impersonation from his Point Break period. His voice is so annoying that if I could have muted just him it'd have made the film better.

When Rihanna is more enjoyable in the film you know there's a problem.

Yeah, our plan just bumped up in price, but we're getting ready to move to another state and not changing anything for the moment. We don't have the phone plan, we do have some package that included Encore. Which was great before Xfinity pulled a fast one and wouldn't support the app on my KS (I refuse to hook up a box to it) once Starz lumped it into their app. My wife's been doing the internet research in the areas, but it is such a low priority. Finding a house that we both like that suits our needs and accommodates my MiL without taking out a mortgage is our main focus once we get there.

I sure hope they've got some of those fiber optics. I hear they's the bees knees.

Despite opinion to the contrary, merging and moving the thread hurt the thread. So I've given up on us ever staying on track at this point. The thread is just pointless and needs a FKA moniker. On the bright side, maybe this will reassure a certain someone they aren't being singled out

I suspect that a very high percentage of the threads on this website could be dubbed the same. I would not quite call them "pointless" as many of them are entertaining. Being entertained is one of the reasons I frequent these parts.
