The All the Anime site is doing a 2nd printing of the limited version for the UK. This version will be exact same except for the soundtrack. They decided to do another print run with a timed release this time due to demand

Also i cancelled the shout order since when I placed the preorder I was convinced it was only available on shout, and no other sites

So would this technically be Shout Factory’s second 4K UHD after The Deer Hunter?

As far as general films go. They have released some docs on UHD.

Since Shout Factory’s pre order price was initially $63.98 (now $69.99) when I preordered, I plan to keep my Shout Factory preorder till the total (including tax) preorder price drops at Amazon or another retailer (as Shout Factory doesn’t charge tax for orders to AZ).

Hope Target.com lists it for preorder soon.

I'm down for the UHD. I just wish some other companies would get on the ball and coincide with a release of Your Name. in UHD to cash in on this home release.

The first time I saw this brought up, I also saw a Right Stuf link, so I knew from the start it wasn't just available from Shout's website

Has anybody ordered from Shout before? Do they charge tax? How do they package stuff? I'm half tempted to get it from Amazon because I can easily get at least half paid in gift cards from surveys and stuff between now and November, but they'll either ship it in the crappy cardboard packaging that's too tight or in a bubble mailer that's too loose. I don't see them using a box.

I've only used Right Stuf twice over the past 6 years, they're usually more expensive than I want to pay... but they're only $2 more and they don't charge tax and each time my item was shipped in a box. So I'm torn lol

I never ordered from Shout Factory before. Although Shout Factory did send a replacement book for Princess Mononoke's Collector's Edition in a standard manila bubble mailer.

I just canceled my Shout Factory preorder now that Target.com has a preorder available ($79.99, higher than Shout Factory's current preorder price of $69.99). Used the Target Circle BOGO 50% Movies coupon to order two copies, then cancelled one immediately. So my pre-Redcard and pre-tax preorder price is currently $59.99 after the prorated discount. Unfortunately, it seems that the Target Circle BOGO 50% Movies coupon may be one time use only, but I don't mind as I don't really have much else to buy. Sure, I know Target.com use pretty thin bubble mailers for most BDs, but they could use a box given that this set is larger than your average BD.

I also have a preorder on Amazon just in case the price drops before release day (as Target.com doesn't have a preorder price guarantee).

I meant to see this back in January when I visited my sister in Florida, but my plane was delayed and we didn't make it.

I always like to have the soundtrack but the US collector's edition is a bit pricey for me, especially as a blind buy. I did love Your Name though.

The interview with Shinkai is likely the same feature shown after the Fathom Events screenings. It’s great if it gets included, as the Fathom Events feature provided a brief but substantial insight to the film, with clips from several interviews and publicity events.
I may get a US or UK release too but not sure which is better out of the two. I do have the JP one secured but still has not shipped yet.

I was brought on after the film showed in U.S. theaters. I’d already done some work for GKIDS (e.g., interviews with anime creators), and they approached me for this project.

I should note that I think the “additional translation” credit is appropriate. The core translation was done by the person credited with it, and they did a solid job and produced an accurate translation.

There was, of course, an oversight/approval process in place for the work I did, but I did get to go over the entire script. I don’t intend to list or answer questions about specific revisions, but if you saw it in theaters you can look for them yourself.

Shout Factory's track record is rock solid. Go with their release.

That was Madman's fault actually if you're referring to the disc itself.

Is there any chance of an stand alone 4K UHD release down the road? Not that interested in the bonus stuff included in the collectors edition.

No. There won't be one due to licensing agreements with Toho. (Essentially, if there was a cheap UHD outside Japan, who only has a box set collector's edition as well, then many Japanese customers may just end up buying the cheap international UHD instead of buying the domestic product)

I'm curious how complete the soundtrack will be, compared to previous physical/digital releases. I've been meaning to buy the music, but been on the fence.
