Me, too. I like the full array uniformity, (even if it isn't high end), but now I need to go with the x930e.

It will bug me to no end to FINALLY get a new TV (currently have Sony 46" nx700), and know it's missing big features/ will never get them. Dolby Vision? HDMI 2.1? Maybe Technicolor HDR? Gotta have 'em.

I wish they had kept the 930e full array, it kinda sucks that each set has features that I want but neither of the 2 has it all and in order to get all of it you have to pay a substantial amount more to get it... the 930e does look nice but I could not stand the blooming letterbox bars

Not to be rude, but the sony x900e 55 it's been 1299 for a while now at all the major retailers. At least for the past couple of weeks.

The 55" X900E officially dropped to $1,299 on Sunday, June 25th.

Some retailers jump ahead by a few days as nothing ships on Saturday or Sunday, but anyone who listed the 55X900E for $1,299 before this past Sunday was out of compliance with the dealer agreement and paid a higher price to buy the TV.

You can lower the effective cost by taking advantage of the 10% Rewards credit and other dealer benefits.

I'm really interested in the Sony X900E, any chance a sale coming since it's around a month till Black Friday?

For years, I had been a Samsung person, but my 65" Samsung was going South and it was time to replace it. I was used to the Samsung look but in researching a replacement, it seemed that the Sony full array feature on the 900E gave the picture a quality that was lacking in the comparable Samsung. Well, about a month ago, I purchased the 75X900E from Best Buy. Two issues to note:

1. I ran the TV for about a month and just had Best Buy out to calibrate the set. Unfortunately, after they were done, I noticed that everything had a slightly greenish tint to my eyes. At first I thought that it might just be me as I was used to the years of the Samsung unit and they tend to run their video more saturated (giving way to a more bluish setting) than Sony does.

But then I went in to the Best Buy calibrated settings and noticed that they had the following settings:

R-Gain and G-Gain were at max. B-Gain was at -4.
R Bias was -6. G Bias was +6. B Bias was zero.

I went in and bumped the B-Gain back to max. I then set all three Bias settings at zero.
These adjustments seemed to get rid of the green tint and brought the flesh tones back to what looked like normal to me, removing that slightly greenish tint.

After the Best Buy calibration, the picture also looked a little softer and darker than I liked.

They had also turned off the Auto Local Dimming and X-tended Dynamic Range, as you would do during calibration but those settings were still in the off mode. I turned them back on and set them both to Medium. That seemed to help with the softness and darkness that were noticeable to me.

Just looking for feedback on this as to whether or not the Best Buy calibrations were off with their settings above, especially in leaving the Auto Local Dimming and X-tended Dynamic Range off? Is it recommended to leave those features on? Also is it recommended to leave the Bias and Gain settings to zero as they are from the factory?

2. Now to my second point: After all of this was done yesterday, last night I noticed a tiny bright green spot on the screen near the center top of the frame. It looks like a pixel failure which can only be seen close up and in black or low level video. I called Best Buy immediately and told them of this issue. To their credit, they are replacing the unit early next week. My guess is that this pixel problem has been there all along but since it's so hard to see, I did not notice it until last night, after having the set for a month. Obviously, now that my wife and I both know that it is there, you can't help but notice it.

Last question: For those who have experience with this unit, do you recommend I have Best Buy out again to calibrate the new set, after running it for a month or go with the settings I have found on these internet sites? I have been checking the internet for calibration settings on this TV and found some detailed info on the rtings.com, avforums, and audiovision source sites. Are these settings a good place to start and then make minor adjustments to my eye (as I ended up doing after the BB calibrations were done). Don't get me wrong. I want to say that I have no issue with Best Buy on any of this. They are being real stand up folks in dealing with the issue. I am just looking for some informed feedback and input here.

Note: While the way a TV looks is all about personal preference, I think I have a pretty good eye as I have spent my career in the film and television business and have been looking at picture quality issues for years. I mostly watch movies on this unit and really want to see what the cinematographer intended me to see. Maybe that is why the picture looked better to me after I adjusted all the gain settings back to max and the bias settings back to zero.

I'm all for getting a TV professionally calibrated but based on what you've said it does sound to me like Best Buy screwed the pooch with your last calibration. I wouldn't be inclined to give them a second chance. I'd look elsewhere - fool me once an' all that

I've got the 65" arriving next week so i'm looking forward to getting amongst those settings myself

For what it's worth - never take anyone else's word for what the 'correct' brightness (backlight) setting is. It's entirely up to you and will depend on (A) the viewing conditions in your room, and of course (B) your personal preference.

If you watch the TV in the dark, your brightness will obviously need to be set far lower than someone who watches with the lights on or during the daytime. I watch almost exclusively with lights off (with luminoodle bias lighting behind the TV) so '4' when watching SDR stuff is perfect for me. For HDR the TV defaulted to 'Max' brightness which burnt my eyeballs so I had to take that down to '30' - still gives me a pleasing HDR experience without having to wear sunglasses

Just play around with it during your day to day viewing and settle on something that looks pleasing to you. There's a sweet spot and you'll know when you hit it*

Thanks, I appreciate it, during the day I don't have no lights on in my bedroom where my new 4K tv is in. I do have the light on at night.
