i read a review on it and the user said you had to use the Coolpix software to get the pictures off it, is that true?

yes, pretty much any camera will let you just plug it in and drag photos directly off of it. that's what ive always done

This is one I'm looking at. Played around with one at the mall camera shop a few days ago and was really impressed. Also has lots of good reviews online. Don't know what you got it for, but Amazon has it for $167.

ALso, one of the features is it has a smile scensor thing or whatever, and a light that blinks when your subject eyes close or stops smiling so you can re do the picture

i must ask

HOW THE HELL DOES IT DO THAT?

"Don't shoot till you see the whites of their eyes...or teeth" software.

That one had me also. Never did get a solid answer. Only thing I could figure is when it locks in on the subjects face it senses certain movements?
