Now I'm just waiting for your dang gallery to show the new pictures.

PS, on the advice of you and others, I made the jump into SACD - with my first album, of course, being Dark Side of the Moon. Time and Us and Them are some pretty amazing songs. I'm listening to it now.

I'll try to take some pics this weekend, or after memorial day. Got BBQs to attend.

DSOTM is a great album.

I was setting up my new turntable and doing some cable management last night, took quick shot. You can see the fathom on the right. Ignore the mess, just tidying up some cables etc.

Given what I am currently hearing with these things integrated into my system, it is truly incomprehensible what these things may even be capable of. I would bet I am using 1/3 to 1/2 of the output capability.

This is the first time I've ever used two subs. For the first time the bass is truly smooth & integrated, with no ability to locate where the subs are positioned.

I cannot recommend these subs enough. Even one F112 would more than do the trick.

Music has been kicked up a notch. Deep, clean bass. I love it. I listened to an Art Blakey SACD, and you can't wipe the smile off my damn face. This has to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. Worth every penny.
Congrats guys! As you guys are, I am also a complete JL Audio convert in regard to subs. The single g213 I put in my system is otherworldly and integrates surprisingly well with my LCR's and other sub of different makes. I am looking forward to adding a second Gotham to replace the DD18 at some point (I'm OCD as far as symmetry is concerned-- just call me Monk).

Rock on bros!

I mean this in the nicest way...you are a nut. TWO Gotham 213's? I, just, cannot even comprehend it.

I love Master and Commander. The cannons are like a shockwave coming through the room, and that's with 2 F112's not even going all out. With 2 Gotham 213's, you might knock someone's heartbeat out of whack. Good lord...

My theater is 16x25x9. You must be running a concert hall sized room!!!

After I post this...I'm gonna go put in 3:10 to Yuma. Thanks for the tip!!

I am running dual F112's. As I've posted my room is 16x25x9. I wouldn't call it "massive". However, when it came time to upgrade my subs this year I knew I wanted to go to 2 subs (been wanting to do 2 subs for over 10 years). I figured/knew it would allow for better integration and smoother overall response. I was right.

The natural choice was to go JL. The decision was based less on total output and more on quality bass (though the output is nice too). So, after coming to the conclusion that 2 JLs were the way to go... it came down to choosing which Fathom model was right. It was easy to eliminate the F110 due to the fact it doesn't reach as low as the F112 or F113. At the end of the day, 2 F112's is way more output than I need, so I couldn't justify the extra cost of 2 F113's when the incremental output they provide wasn't needed. If I ever move to bigger house with a bigger room and feel like I need more output, then I'll just start adding Fathom 212's.

I too needed help getting the F112's in place. And yes Master & Commander is ridiculous, in a good way.

What is the street value of these things? I'm not talking MSRP, but rather what I'd expect to pay if I walked into a dealer's store? Love this sub too, btw.

$10 Gs, isn't it? For a Gotham?

MSRP is just under $3k for the f112. I'm guessing you could pick one up for the $2,500 range if you were patient.

Since msrp is $2900, anything between 2200 to 2500 is a very good deal from an authorized dealer imo. However, even at full msrp I think it's worth it.

F113's are about $3k on the street. JL isn't giving dealers much of a break, is what they all told me. Most just order them, or only have one or two in stock.

I'm in Southern California, called every dealer within 150 miles when I got mine, and only two were stocking Fathom units. None stocked the Gotham units.

I would say your dealer is not being honest with you. You should be able to do better.

I got mine in early 2008 - I'm sure things have changed. But prices are still high for these. And I talked to many dealers.

Thanks-- we are all fools when it comes to this hobby. Some moreso than others!

Actually, my theater is similarly sized (17x25x8 or so) although the room extends another 25 feet back-- the remaining space is used as a drawing room/game room/kid's playspace. So I do have more volume to fill. But, I'm always a believer in having more headroom than necessary-- you can always turn down the sound if necessary. Or just leave it and hang on to your hats!

As far as street cost, the g213 MSRP's for $12k although both dealers I spoke with were willing to negotiate substantial discounts. I don't know how they're selling, but this economy has not been good for any high end products. I would imagine it's a buyers market right now.

You're the king of understatement, Brain, as ever.

I've had my f110 for a few months now, and I can reinforce everything that's been said about these amazing pieces of gear, and about the company as a whole.

Even the littlest Fathom is scary good. It has power, finesse, speed and clarity that I've never experienced at home before. It was a good chunk of change to lay out, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Not only does it perform, but it's just a gorgeous thing to look at. The fit and finish is Mercedes good, and the unwrapping experience was a joy. This is a company that wants to WOW you from the first minute of ownership.

I couldn't imagine watching movies without it now.

Yeah, me too. I mean, I "get" it (comprehend it). I just cannot comprehend how it sounds. That's what I meant. Even with my 2 F112's I don't even think they are breaking a sweat as it is right now. They don't even get warm; they are room temperature. 2 Gotham 213's...I think it would shake out of my head whatever hair I have left.

I bet it is scary good. As you say, the power, finesse, speed, and clarity is truly amazing. I think I may have mentioned this before, but I truly feel with my F112's like I am hearing bass as it should be for the first time in my life.

I'm with you. As long as JL is making these Fathom and Gotham subs for home theaters, I will be using them. I too cannot ever imagine being without them, ever again, for movie watching.

What are some of people's other JL Fathom/Gotham demos on Blu-Ray?

I still love Master & Commander the best. I gotta try out U-571 as I have the disc but just haven't played the depth charge scene yet.

I also like Iron Man as long as you turn the dynamic range compression off on your pre/pro as this disc loves to turn it on with some brands.
