Please discuss your Polk Audio subwoofers in this thread. You can include pictures, reviews, or any other comments regarding your subwoofer.

I like the idea of the separate sub manufacturer threads. This will be very helpful for those like me who are stuck and do not know which sub to go with. The most difficult part of my decision is that I can't find a place to audition most of the subwoofers that I am interested in.
Anyway, I hope to see someone who owns a DSW Pro series and another person who owns a DSW Micropro series post in here and share their thoughts. |

So to the owners of Polk Subs and to those that own other subs, what are your thoughts on this? Should I take advantage of the price drop? Would it be a good value for performance?
http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Mic...549814&sr=1-26 Description from Polk Audio website: http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/dsw/#dswmicropro1000 My room is small and either a 10" sub or a dual 8" would work out great. |

I have a DSW Pro400 and a Micropro 1000.
I have the DSW pro in my upstairs larger system. The 8" DSW sub works great It handles everything I can throw at it, I had some problems with it bottoming out for a while but a quick volume and gain adjusment fixed that. The Micropro is in my living room ( Check out the pics in my gallery on placement) I bought the small sub so I could hide it behind a chair. even though the Micro Sub costs twice as much, and is 1200 watts, It still does not souind as rich and strong as the DSW Pro does. This could be because of room dimensions, The HT room upstairs has a 8' ceiling and the room downstairs where the Micropro is has a 20' ceiling. I really like both Subs and would not change if I could. |

I have an older Polk Sub but it still sounds great. It is PSW-250 that has survived moving 4 times and sitting unused in a basement for a very long time. I've recently discovered Blu-Ray and surround and I'm lovign life. But a question for you serious sub people:
Is it better to turn the sub all the way up and then change the setting on your receiver or is it better to have the sub turned down but maximized through your receiver? I've always wondered about this. I currrenlty have the sub turned up about 3/4 of the way with the receiver setting varying depending on how heavy the bass is on the movie. |

I have the Polk Audio PSW125 (12" driver), and it's a very good subwoofer. Not boomy at all. I have some strange room acoustics which have made the placement of my sub very specific in order to really get the best out of it from the primary listening position. It adds the sweetest low-end and it's a critical element of the system. I've often wondered how many people do not realize how important subwoofer placement can be in a room, and blamed perceived poor subwoofer performance on the sub itself (any brand, not just Polk Audio).
The unit has four short, tapered feet. If you are setting the unit on a carpeted floor, watch out that the downward-firing, round port is not choked off by the carpet. Use a wood panel (as I have done) or some sort of riser system to raise the sub's port off the carpet. Another thing to note. If you use the single LFE input jack on the PSW125, the sub's onboard crossover control will be bypassed. Using a Y-splitter and going into the stereo L/R inputs allows the use of the onboard crossover control. I would assume the PSW110 (the 10" version) is set up the same way, and perhaps other Polk Audio subs. ![]() |

Best Part is, for under $150, it is a very good option. (I was able to get mine for $98 on Ebay - $69 + $29 freight - great condition, great looking). Newegg has the Cherry one at $99 and the Black one at $119 - & no freight. But I'm sure Ebay has either for good/similar prices also. |

I have two of them (one free with my other Polk speakers and bought the other from newegg for $99). I also have an 805. I wasn't expecting much out of them since they had only 50w amps, but they have impressed me with how well they sound. |
