Just picked up the Optimum 12, what a beast. I still have some tweaking to do but that is half the fun.

Default Vdr-12

I just got a VDR-12, took advantage of the boxing day sale at Futureshop. I was looking at getting a Epik legend, but given the price difference of over $200 I think the Velodyne will be more than enough for my 838 sq. ft. condo . I post pics soon.

After reading all the post I think I definately have the non BV model. I don't have a heatsink and I have a detachable cord. So far so good, but I really haven't put it through its paces yet. Definately an improvement from my 10 inch Klipsch. I'll check the build date after work. A steal for the price.

I hope that got rid of the infamous popping at higher listening levels. I also ordered a third one, should be getting it today.

I have mine set to the default volume and in my condo I don't think I'm going to set it any louder. So far no popping. Excellent sub for the price, I paid more for my 10 inch Klipsch.

Looking at adding two more subs to my theater. Already have two VRP-1200s. Anyone heard the Impact12's. Wondering how they would match up with my VRP's.

Default Anyone who had an issue with 2009 VDR-12

This is an update to anyone who purchased VDR-12 dated october 09. I decided to purchase this years model dated October 10. I ran some test with the sub and this model doesnt have the pop that plagued last years version. So, if anyone really enjoyed their VDR-12 i suggest to contact velodyne and get the subwoofer checked out, or re-purchase from futureshop.

Just a heads up Futureshop just reduced the price further, it's now $299. Thankfully I was still within the 30 day window and got the price adjustment.

Hey guys, just wondering what your opinions were on the DLS 3750/4000, can't really find too many people who own these.

Thanks in advance!

I had the DLS 5000. Before that was a DPS12. The DPS12 was incredible for music simply incredible. The DLS was better for movies. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it sounded "hollow" best was I can describe it. Felt like it was not a full sound. I added a riser and an EQ to it but still there was something missing. I also felt there was nothing tactile about it. You'd hear it but you never really felt it. I've changed to SVS since then and it's really a night and day difference. I truly did love the DPS12s though.
So so smooooooooooooooth.

Thanks for the insight!

For a subwoofer I've actually been considering going for a factory direct rather than an in store purchase. Been reading a lot of good things about SVS on the site, gonna have to do more research I think.

FutureShop usually has them on sale, either the DLS 4000 or 5000. 2 4000s would still be a sweet setup in my opinion. I don't think they go as low as some of the ID compaines (ED, HSU,SVS) but they still sound great. Sonicboom I'm pretty sure has a return policy but you'd have to pay for shipping. Don't quote me on that...Future Shop will take a return with no questions asked. Try either one of them and return them if you're not happy. I'm not going to come into the Velodyne thread and say buy an SVS but I do encourage you to try them all. i was happy with my Velo's, but the SVS is a different beast. Either way you'll be in LOVE!!!

Not to ask a dumb question, but what would say made the SVS superior? Is it workmanship, clarity? Just wondering, i'm fairly uneducated when it comes to subs.

Just the sheet power of the SVS. The Velos are freaking great subs. It's rare to find something at the price point of a DLS 4000 that comes with somewhat of an EQ and a remote too. The Velos are very well put together. Never felt cheap in that regard. The SVS just has so much more raw power. Again those are my feelings. Take the weekend...pick up a Velo at FS try it out.
