Blu-ray player for PC

I’d like one these to play back my Blus on my PC. VLC apparently doesn’t play and Leawo won’t let me use the mouse, effectively rendering it worthless. Ideally, I’d like something free, but a small fee would be OK for a good one.

Mouse control is forbidden on many Blu-rays, so mouse won't work on those no matter what players you use.

MakeMKV isn’t free but it integrates with VLC allowing you to play Blu-rays (multi region as well). Mouse control works, too.

Leawo gives an option of using a virtual remote that you can use to navigate the menus and whatnot. Also, it allows for the keyboard to be used in that way as well. That is how I use it.

I think every mouse should just work. My wireless mouse works just fine and normal on leawoo windows10 (mouse does all the playback functions , subtitles etc) the same way as the mouse works on all mediaplayers.(but i always ignore that leawoo java needed popupmenu etc., maybe that makes a difference)
Can't think of a needed blu ray mouse function that i miss and can't do on leawoo ( and also the same mouse use operation on a cyberlink 14 )

Actually, there are some files endorsed by the VLC dev team that you can install into VLC that’ll allow you to play some Blu-ray movies. There are tutorials on how to do it, just look up “Play Blu-rays on VLC”. There should be a result that pops up leading to files on the VLC website.

If you have the storage space to do so OP, you can also just straight up rip BDs using MakeMKV, then use VLC to play the MKV files created by that program. That’s what I normally do.

This requires downloading AACS keys, which is not legal. AACS keys are stored in the firmware of your (UHD) Blu-ray drive and are never sent out of it. A proper (UHD) Blu-ray player program will make the drive perform the AACS decryption on its own by sending its own keys to the drive which triggers the drive's AACS keys.

VLC isn't an ideal solution. It's not common for it to play the latest encrypted discs, as the kinds of leaks required to make that happen don't happen very often. (I've lost track but I'm guessing it's been awhile since the appropriate materials have been refreshed.) Between less-than-ideal AACS support, broken BD+ support, and poor support for BDs in general (several discs I've loaded have refused to work at all, or the menus are so poorly handled that you can't start a film), there's not much point in attempting to perform disc playback other than the satisfaction of tinkering with the whole thing and maybe, if you're a coder, writing some patches to fix some of the problems.

VLC pared with an updated MakeMKV and LibreDrive can play the newest discs. The only real problematic discs to this day are Sony/Fox/Disney releases from 2010-2016, especially ones with convoluted AACS patterns and Cinavia.
