This to me seems to make the most sense. "Brazilian" is not a language, just like "Québécois" is not a language.
If you ask most Brazilians what language they speak, they will respond brasileiro (or at least that was my experience in São Paulo).

Hmmm...an American from Utah who speaks Portuguese and lived in Brazil. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you were a missionary in Brazil. Bulgaria Sofia Mission alumnus here! (1998-2000)

But when I got back from my mission, I ended up marrying a girl from Campinas (not too many Bulgarians in Indiana!), hence my interest in Blu-Rays with Portuguese. I've found that movies are a great way to help our kids with their Portuguese language skills.

Glad you found the forum!

I grew up in Hawaii, and my family was still living there when I served my mission in Campinas (1995-1997). I even ate churrasco at the home of Presidente Martins (was president of the Castelo stake). My wife is from Ceará.

Lol.

Since this thread was started in 2013, the movie landscape has changed somewhat with the emergence of streaming services. I subscribe to Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, HBOmax, and Netflix, and I have noticed that sometimes movies and shows have options for a wide variety of languages, including Portuguese.

It's not all movies, and the options can be inconsistent, but I hope this is a trend that continues. There's really no reason for streaming services to not include a lot of language options, since the work has already been done, and streaming subscribers speak all different kinds of languages, even within the borders of a single country; particularly the US.
