Portugal Recent purchases of Blu-Rays with Portuguese

This is a thread where you can post about recent movies you've bought that include Portuguese language options. You may also want to share information about where you purchased the movies, and how much they cost, in case somebody else is interested in buying the same movies.

I'll go ahead and get things started with a couple movies that just arrived in the mail.

I bought the US market version of the Brazilian movie "Neighboring Sounds" from the US Amazon site for $22.18 shipped in the US.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Neigh...Blu-ray/66719/

I also bought the Brazilian release of the BBC miniseries "Pride and Prejudice" on eBay from Brazilian seller "hidef" for $39.99 US + $6.99 shipping. Standard shipping was $3.00, but I paid a little extra for upgraded shipping. I ordered it on Jul 10, and it was delivered here in the US on Jul 22, so I don't know if the extra shipping sped things up or not, but at least I had a tracking number.

This one just came in the mail today, and my wife and I (and her mother) are really looking forward to watching it.

I bought it on eBay for $16.38 shipped in the US.

Another day, another Blu-Ray (or two). Both purchased from Amazon (using Amazon Reward points from my Amazon VISA card).

Cloverfield has Portuguese subtitles, and 'Flight' is supposed to have Portuguese subtitles and audio. I don't know yet whether they are Brazilian or European, but since they're both US releases I expect they are probably Brazilian. I hear they're both excellent movies.

I had $15 in Rewards Zone coupons for Best Buy, so I stopped in today and picked up these two on sale. 'Leon: The Professional' was $9.99 and 'Casino' was $7.99. Both have Portuguese subtitles, but 'Leon' also has Portuguese DTS-HD 5.1 MA.

Nice movies! "No Country for Old Men" is one of my mine and my wife's favorites, and I ended up buying the German version for Portuguese subs.

I don't have Gravity yet, but I plan to pick it up this week. Probably the 3D version, and it will be the first 3D I'll watch on my Epson 5010 projector.

When you get a chance, can you please check the subtitles on Gravity, and let me know if they are "CIH-friendly"? In other words, do the subtitles stay entirely within the image frame, or do they go into the black bar below the movie? My projector screen is an extra-wide 2.35 "Cinamascope" screen, so if the subtitles go into the black bars, they will be outside my actual screen and difficult to see.

Thanks!

ok I'll check it out for you, don't worry.

ps: you don't have by any chance the blu-ray of "Once Upon a Time in The West" do you? If you do, could you confirm me if the portuguese subtitles are european portuguese or brazilian portuguese? thanks

Sorry, I don't have that movie. It really wasn't even on my radar, but now that you've brought it to my attention I have added to my Amazon "Wish list".

Unfortunately, that list is fairly long. And since I finally just ordered 3D glasses for my projector, I will probably be focusing on picking up some more 3D titles for a while.

I'm not really a fan of 3D, but I've heard there's good 3D blu-rays out there.

have you tried Man of Steel 3D and Dredd 3D ?

I haven't tried any 3D yet. I was never too interested in it, but reading the reviews of new 3D movies has made me curious. And when I found out that Playstation 3 3D glasses would work with my Epson 5010 projector and could be had for less than $15 on Amazon, I figured I would give it a try.

My glasses should arrive today, so I'll see what I think.

Well, I've tried a couple 3D movies now that I already owned ("Hugo" and "Monster vs Aliens", both of which also have Portuguese), and I honestly didn't care for 3D very much. It was kind of cool at times, but I felt like it degraded the picture quality too much, particularly with fast motion on screen.

My wife and kids liked it though, so I guess I'll keep the 3D glasses. I just won't be buying a lot more 3D movies.

Since I don't need to save my money for 3D titles, I went ahead and ordered "Once Upon a Time in the West". I should have it on Sunday, so I'll let you know if the Portuguese is Brazilian.

I'm not surprised, but thanks for the info! Is the Portuguese Brazilian? Or do you not have the US version?

The US version of "Once Upon a Time in the West" has Brazilian Portuguese subtitles. It took my wife about 15 minutes to confirm it, since there is basically no dialogue in the beginning of the movie, which was kind of funny.
