Good for you. You must realize, therefore, how the Apple ecosystem works and how freakin' awesome it is. Yet, you've never been tempted to buy any media from iTunes.

"Apple loosing their grip", you say. Not sure what you mean by that. Unless, you're talking about the slight downturn in iPhone sales, which doesn't concern this subject.

I mean they are losing their relevance. Sure, they will be around for a while but they are not innovating anymore.

Love my Apple stuff but the HD films didn't pass muster with me. A digital sheen was present at all times and a few darker sequences had blocking. Can't be done with that.

Apple will be around forever and I'm sure iTunes will be, too.

Blu-ray's won't.

Nothing is around for ever. Look at Atari, Sega, Blackberry (on life support) the mighty can fall and fall fast.

None of them compare to Apple.

I've a good mind to throw my Blu-ray collection in the trash. Except for any title(s) I haven't been able to acquire on iTunes. The only one that comes to mind is 'Scarecrows'-1988.

We know how the iTunes logo looks like, no need to take the biggest pic you can find and post it!
This or just "iTunes" works perfectly!

I'm sure iTunes is the ruler of audio libraries but not the video, not yet anyways. I'm an apple fanatic I have two iPhones, a iPod a iPad and 2 apple TVs but own near 1000 blus and only 7 iTunes movies.

Treat your eyes man! Let the big boys (Bluray) show you how it's done.
Get yourself a projector and join us. You will fall off your seat when you see 4K Bluray done correctly on a projector. Don't your eyes and ears deserve a special treat?

The transfers look so.......Digital! Mind you, I was expecting a lot worse with the pathetic bit-rate.

As time goes on, more and more people are going to be saying: 'Physical Media, screw that!'.

I like to be different. People say a lot of things. Most of it is bollocks. I know what I like. If it lasts another ten years, great. It will give me pleasure for that time. If I have to pay extra for special editions etc.. So be it. It's worth it. I will leave the crap fest to you lot.

10 years in tech is a long time. That's why I mentioned Apple and how things can collapse. VR and things like that are coming don't forget. I don't know how old you are but Sega were massive. So we're Atari. You shouldn't put all your faith in one company.

That's why I used the word 'IF'. Believe me, 10 more years of Bluray will bring such joy. Sure, it might last 15 or more years, that would be a huge bonus. Who knows, maybe ITunes 8k won't suck?

Oh wait, Apple might not be here then! That's what a lack of Innovation can do. Just ask Blackberry (IMO)

The majority of people who are switching primarily to digital are doing so because of the price, not because of the convenience. There is no way that physical media can ever compete with $10 per month for Netflix or Amazon Prime.

But the vast majority of people that buy movies for $10-$20 each do so on DVD or Blu-ray. The studios would love for people to switch entirely over to digital but they recognize that most of the customers who spend the most money or doing so on physical media and they aren't going to abandon those customers.

While more and more titles will unfortunately only be released in digital form, the major releases will continue to sell millions of copies on physical media for many decades.

Plus if Apple goes away everyone will lose their entire iTunes collection. If they stop making Blu-ray movies all of the existing Blu-ray titles will still work just fine.

Forever? That is a pretty bold statement about a company that has already been on the verge of failure in the past and hasn't done much innovation since Jobs passed. That are absolutely enormous right now, but they are not to big to fail. Look at this list of enormous companies that are failing or have failed.

AOL
Pan AM
Washington Mutual
GM (required a bailout)
Blockbuster
Tower Records
Borders
Nintendo (hasn't failed, but they've lost massive market share compared to their past(

The list can go on. Apple along with all these other tech companies don't make anything that guarantee their survival. All it takes is missing the mark on products for your namebrand to fall. What makes a phone and computer maker special that they can't fail? For all we know cell phones can be nothing like they are now in 20 years and Apple could miss that boat.

I am by no means an Apple hater or anything. I've had many Apple products and while i may not love iOS i respect what they've done and the build quality and design esthetics they have. I just don't see any company as too big to fail (I'd be livid if the government used tax dollars to bailout a cellphone a d computer company if it came to that).

Look at Atari? They were mega at one time. Wasn't it a dud game (E.T) that caused their downfall?

Well, niche studios are starting to release some great titles as well as obscure ones. I have never had such choice.

Yeah it's crazy the pioneers of home video games completely tanked. Apple has so much money they could keep all their employees for many years without making a thing and be fine. However to use the word forever is foolish. That is a bold statement considering their past and the past of other tech companies. Who knows their state in 10, 20, 50 years?
