You most likely won’t notice a huge difference initially, but you being abroad it is hard to tell Steedeel. Like I said, I had no complaints in Washington, but others hate them. I’m not sure if it’s because they don’t deliver or people don’t like their pricing? I’m a firm believer, good or bad. You get what you pay for.

Of course that might not be an option for me. As satellite is king around here. However I’m sticking with cable and pray it can deliver the service we need. I’d rather minimize and stick to base cable and internet. However MiL wants it, so she’s getting it. I’m just hoping she’ll eventually let me replace that tv of hers

Vilya, IMO, that poster can not see beyond their nose .

Even the media continues to equate SVOD revenue to physical revenue. It makes no sense, SVOD is just another method of pay TV. Hulu continues to lose money, Amazon does not disclose their video revenue and Netflix is obligated for a boat load of billions. The revenue elephant in the room continues to be pay TV.

Yes, I know how to Google too. You’re missing my earlier point, like Steedeel and others, they bought out my existing cable company. But it was so long ago that I can’t remember who that was.

I ran into this with Comcast earlier this year. I have a cable/internet package and pay around $150/month. I wanted to cut the cord and get rid of cable, so I called to see if it would affect my internet rate, which was $80 with the package. They told me no, that if I get rid of cable my internet would not go up.

So I disconnected everything (4 cable boxes, remotes etc.) and went to the Comcast store to turn them in and disconnect my cable service. They told me my internet would go up to $125/month. I argued that I was told otherwise, but got no budge. So I ended up keeping cable because by the time I added a TV streaming subscription (PS Vue, Sling etc.) it would be around the same price.

I will say their internet speeds are amazing. I can stream 4K content from Netflix with no issues over wifi. But I'm basically trapped into keeping cable, which I'm sure is exactly how they want it.

Sorry to disappoint you but my info did not come from Google. MS is my home state, TV production and broadcasting is my profession (retired) and was familiar with Comcast early history.

Well Sky are going the IPTV route over the next year so I think they may be planning to phase the dish out over the next decade or two. Fibre is essential for that so I should be ok. I mainly watch Football (soccer) and HBO shows like GOT. We don’t have HBO but we do have Sky Atlantic which is the same thing really. It’s all HBO stuff contracted out. With Netflix and broadcast (BBC, ITV and C4) that’s enough content to keep me going. I pick up shows like Bates Motel on Blu-ray so as long as they keep on releasing big series on Blu-ray I don’t really need other add ons. That may change but I’m not going into all that again!

Hopefully your cable will be up to standard as it can’t half be frustrating otherwise.

No problem, just click the Red in my signature line for a shot summary. Some info included so folks will know why, for example, I push Atmos sound .

Shockingly bad that I didn’t even notice that before. I think I need to stick to forums on my computer or tablet rather than phone.

I’d say I was being sarcastic, but that would probably fly over your head too

Honestly Steedeel, you should be fine. If anything you’ll notice an eventual price hike, but ehh usual ease into that to prevent any dust up from existing customers. As far as my situation, it is going to be what it is. We’ve got a long list and cable/internet is a low one until we get moved out of this place.

This is like that football match truce in the Great War! We are both managing to get along last couple of days!
