I’ve had Netflix disc service for years and loved it. Well before they had streaming but the past year has dipped in quality. It now takes 2-3 days to receive discs from the same distribution center instead of the 1 day i enjoyed for years and sometimes they “receive” discs on different days even though I returned them all at the same time. I’ve also received more broken discs in the past year than I ever did the 10ish years previous. It sucks that it feels inevitable that they will discontinue disc service eventually. For anyone saying redbox etc. that’s hard for people who want to check out foreign language, Art house, classics, and tv series and special features not available on streaming before purchasing

I have been a disc member since 2004. I took the last year off, but resumed recently with BD only, because I don't care what anyone says - DVDs look garbage on a 4k TV even w/ Oppo upscaling. I have been slightly disappointed in the BD selection as well as the wait times on newer releases. Once I'm caught up on some of the early 2019 releases that I missed in theaters, I will probably stop my disc subscription again.

I find that many of my DVDs look quite good upscaled on my 4K TV with my Oppo 203. I certainly would not say that they look like "garbage." I think it is possible that 4K content has just spoiled some of us more than others.
![]() I remember when the addition of "Hi Fi" sound to VHS tapes was a big deal. My first Hi Fi VCR cost $800 in 1986; that's $1869 in today's dollars. I thought I was living large when I bought it and I could not wait to hook it up to my 19" CRT television and my stereo system. Having such a historical perspective helps when viewing my upscaled DVDs, but I am still impressed by how well many of them look. Netflix discs get here fast enough for me; it is not like I can't find something else to watch or do during the brief turnaround time. I have not received any broken or unplayable discs in over two years. If only I could say the same for movies shipped to me from Amazon in those useless padded envelopes. UPS mangles and mauls about 1 out of every 3 such shipments. |

DVD: If you have a Netflix disc subscription to get those non-REDBOX titles (classics, foreign, art-house, etc.), you pretty much have to accept that enough of them are DVD-only, not yet on blu-ray and may never be. The quality isn't that bad, especially when there's no other choice. Netflix spin-off for someone else to pickup: isn't dvd.com (what Netflix disc service is) already separate? Chris |

I can tell you it is easier for me to go to my mailbox than get in my car or truck to visit a store kiosk. No late fees and urgency to return quickly? Just one of the reasons we signed up about a decade ago. I do miss the services being connected. I loved when one of my ques would tell me if something was available through either service or been upgraded to BR.
I was also impressed with is that most of the Criterion’s were BDs when the movies were available in that format. I also didn’t mind too much that animated movies were DVD. It was just when most of the movies I received towards the end were DVD or faulty. When that happens you should do right by your customers and send out an extra disc or something. Otherwise you aren’t getting the service you are paying for. Especially if you are on a multi-disc plan ![]() |

I never really paid attention to exact turnaround times, but as a result of this thread, I was more curious. I put a movie in last Tuesday and took out its replacement today. With a holiday in the middle, that looks to be 6 mailing days. Not quick, but not enough to make me consider other options. Netflix did split off their disc by mail service, but it is still under their umbrella. |

Yeah, the turnaround the holidays is to be expected. I did my best to get mine as quickly as I could, but it was much easier when I was the stay at home parent and had my own dedicated space back in Washington. Since the move I’ve been having a hard time balancing my time.
